Ashton Park School

Ashton Park School is a mixed gender secondary school with foundation status, located in the Southville area of Bristol, England.

History

The school opened on 8 September 1955 as Ashton Park Secondary Modern School, built in the grounds of Ashton Court. The intake of pupils was aimed at the district of Hotwells.

The current headteacher is Mrs Thomas, a new headteacher replacing Mr Gardner in September 2011.

Students come from primary schools including Ashton Gate, Hotwells, Southville, Compass Point, Hillcrest Primary School and Luckwell. The school has a sixth form centre which has the freedom of college, but the support of a school. This prepares students for the next stage in their life. The school is a specialist Sports College. This does not mean extra PE lessons. The school focuses on 'sport for everyone' which could mean simply table tennis for the less able, but the school also runs a 'Gifted and Talented' Sports regime where famous sports people have come in and given lessons such as Jason Gardener. Many extra curriculum clubs for a wide variety of team sports, dance and athletics.

It has two bowling greens, two play areas, with swings, roundabouts and climbing frames, several football pitches within a large, main field, and contains within it a magnificent country house. It also has a beautiful woodland area, ornamental gardens and many flower beds. Ashton House, the large country house within the park, has recently undergone extensive repair and restoration and is particularly well used as a children's nursery school. Extensive parking facilities are provided in the park which is located immediately to the south of Blackpool Road, which proceeds westwards to Cottam. Nearby on the southern side are the docks, and Riversway complex, containing many offices and shops including Morrisons, McDonalds, and Pets at Home. To the west are the Larches and Savick estates and Lea.

History

Ashton Park has a colourful history started by the Pedders family, who had made their fortune by founding the Old Preston Bank (located on Church St), built the Ashton Estate and Mansion in 1810 and lived there until 1861. Nearby Pedders Street and Pedders Lane are testimony to the importance of the family.

Park School is located at 1320 South 29th Street in south Omaha, Nebraska. The school was designed by Thomas R. Kimball and built in 1918. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and designated an Omaha Landmark in 1990.

About

Named for its proximity to Hanscom Park and built with masonry on a frame of reinforced concrete, the footprint for the school was built on a "U" shape. Two stories had 18 rooms, with no original gymnasium or library because of spending constraints caused by World War I. The school was closed in the 1980s, and Omaha Public Schools sold it in 1988. The building was renovated and sold as apartments.

Park Tudor School is a non-sectarian coeducational independent college preparatory day school founded in 1902. It offers programs from junior kindergarten through high school. It is located in the Meridian Hills neighborhood of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA. A merger of Tudor Hall School for Girls (founded in 1902) and the all-male Park School (founded in 1914) formed the present-day school in 1970. The total number of students enrolled for the 2015-2016 school year was 981.

History

Park Tudor is the product of a merger of two single-sex independent schools, Tudor Hall School for Girls and Park School.

Tudor Hall School for Girls was established in 1902 by Fredonia Allen and James Cumming Smith. Allen named the school after her mother, Ann Tudor Allen. The school was originally located at 16th and Meridian streets in Indianapolis. It later moved to a two-building campus at 32nd and Meridian streets where it remained for several decades. In 1960, Tudor Hall moved to the Charles B. Sommers estate on Cold Spring Road, next to Park School. In addition to the day school program, it fostered a significant boarding program with a dormitory on the second North Meridian campus. After the 1970 merger with Park School, Tudor Hall was consolidated with Park School into the College Avenue campus.
