Arsenal Football Club is a professional football club based in Holloway, London. The club play in the Premier League, the top flight of English football. One of the most decorated clubs in English football, they have won 41 domestic and two European trophies, including 13 First Division and Premier League titles and a record 12 FA Cups.

Arsenal were founded in 1886 in Woolwich and in 1893 became the first club from the south of England to join The Football League. In 1913, they moved north across the city to Arsenal Stadium in Highbury. Herbert Chapman changed their traditional red and white kit in 1933 to include white sleeves. In 2006, they moved to the Emirates Stadium in nearby Holloway. Arsenal contest the North London derby with rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

They have never left the top flight since 1919 – the ongoing longest run in English Football. This has helped them accumulate the second most top flight wins and points, and finish the 20th century with the highest average league position. In the 1930s, they won five League Championships and two FA Cups, and another FA Cup and two Championships after the war. In 1970–71, they won their first League and FA Cup Double. George Graham and Arsène Wenger then oversaw five League titles, seven FA Cups, two more Doubles, and a Champions League Final. Under Wenger, Arsenal also set the current top flight records for longest win streak and longest unbeaten streak, and completed a 38 match season unbeaten, surpassing Preston North End from 115 years before.

Arsenal de Sarandí

Arsenal Fútbol Club (Spanish pronunciation: [arˈsenal ˈfutβol ˈkluβ]), usually referred as Arsenal de Sarandí [arˈsenal de saɾanˈdi], is an Argentine sports club from the Sarandí district of Avellaneda Partido, Greater Buenos Aires.

The football team currently plays in Primera División, the top division of the Argentine football league system. The squad plays its home games at the Estadio Julio H. Grondona, named after one of the founders, which has a capacity of 16,000. It opened in 1964 but was not used in the First Division until 2004. The club's colours are red and light blue, in honour of the traditional teams of Avellaneda (Independiente and Racing). Arsenal won its first Primera División championship in 2012. Until then, club's major title had been the Copa Sudamericana won in 2007.

Apart from football, the club hosts other sports such as handball and field hockey.

History

The beginning

The club was founded in January 1957 by brothers Héctor and Julio Humberto Grondona. The club were founded near to where the country's military arsenal was housed, which inspired the name. The team's shirt colour is light blue with a diagonal red band (similar to the shirt used by River Plate). The colours were chosen as a combination of the two older clubs in Avellaneda – Racing (light blue) and Independiente (red).

Arsenal F.C. (Roatán)

Arsenal Football Club is a Honduran football team based in Roatán, Honduras.

It currently plays in Liga de Ascenso de Honduras in Zona Norte-Occidente Group A.

History

Only founded in 1999, the team had a chance to be promoted to the top division, Liga Nacional de Honduras, in May 2007 but they lost to Deportes Savio in the promotion play-off.
