Arise! (Amebix album)

Arise! is the debut album by the British crust punk band Amebix, released on 14 September 1985 by Alternative Tentacles and reissued on CD and vinyl in 2000 with two bonus tracks recorded in 1987. The band Fear of God is named after the third track.

"The Moor" is based upon "Requiem" by György Ligeti, famously used in the Lunar monolith sequence in 2001: A Space Odyssey.

"Largactyl" is a misspelled version of the proprietary name for the antipsychotic medication chlorpromazine (Largactil). The song was written in response and somewhat in honor to Martin (previous Amebix drummer) for being diagnosed with "paranoid schizophrenia" and being institutionalized without choice by his parents.

Arise (Sepultura song)

"Arise" is Sepultura's first official single, as well as the first of three to be released from the album of the same name.

History

The song is one of Sepultura's best known songs and is sometimes called a thrash metal masterpiece.

A controversial music video for the song was produced and can be found on the VHS release Third World Chaos, which was later released on DVD as part of Chaos DVD.

The video was filmed in Death Valley and features footage of the band playing during daylight, mixed with images of a Christ-like figure in a gas mask, hung on a cross. The video was banned by MTV America due to its apocalyptic religious imagery.

At this stage in their career the band had recorded little material to be used as B-sides, which is why the Arise singles are so similar. B-sides on this single were taken from the Under Siege (Live in Barcelona) VHS.

Memento Mori (Flyleaf album)

Memento Mori is the second studio album by American rock band Flyleaf, released through A&M/Octone Records on November 10, 2009. The title is a Latin phrase meaning "be mindful of death" or "remember you will die". Memento Mori debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200, selling 56,000 units in its opening week. The album sold more than 311,600 copies in the U.S. in a little over one year.

Background

Memento Mori is the follow-up to their 2005 platinum debut. It contains 14 songs, which were selected out of 18 already written. The band reunited with producer Howard Benson to make the album. The album was recorded at Bay7 Studios in Los Angeles, California. It was released on November 10, 2009. The band debuted two songs, "Chasm" and "Circle", from Memento Mori live during a small acoustic tour in Afghanistan for United States Troops.

Writing

The band began writing new music after their debut album was released. Most of the material was written while the band toured, but some songs date back as early as 2005 and 2006. "In The Dark" was written after the band released Flyleaf, though it was never played live. "Again", "Have We Lost", and "Beautiful Bride" were the first songs to be played live before they were released on the album.

Church Campus

Planetshakers Church (formerly Melbourne City Church) is a Pentecostal Christian church affiliated with Australian Christian Churches, the Assemblies of God in Australia. The church started when the Planetshakers band and ministry moved to Melbourne in 2004. The church is pastored by Russell and Sam Evans and has over 10,000 members. Currently, Planetshakers has 4 campuses in Melbourne; City, North East, South East and Geelong, with an additional 2 international campuses; Cape Town, South Africa and Los Angeles, USA. Its founder, Russell Evans, declared its aims "I believe that the church of God should be the greatest party on the planet... We're here not just to be local, we're here to be global and we can have the ability to influence the whole planet."

The Planetshakers band is a rock and worship band, a part of Planetshakers' ministry.

The Planetshakers band is the central part of their events. The 2003 Australian Idol winner Guy Sebastian was also a part of the Planetshakers band for several years, taking both lead and backup vocal parts on the 2002 and 2003 albums and conferences. Many of the musicians originated from Youth Alive South Australia, which also released CDs. Some of the songs written by current band members for the Youth Alive albums, such as 'Phenomena' and 'God of Miracles' (from Youth Alive Western Australia) have also featured on Planetshakers earlier albums.
