Aries (journal)

Aries: Journal for the Study of Western Esotericism is a peer-reviewed academic journal covering the historical study of western esotericism. It is published by Brill Academic Publishers on behalf of the European Society for the Study of Western Esotericism. From 2001-2010, the editor-in-chief was Wouter J. Hanegraaff. Since 2010, the editor-in-chief is Peter J. Forshaw. Two issues are published annually; in recent years the first one is a special issue, devoted to a specific theme proposed by a guest editor.

The Journal is a daily newspaper produced in Newcastle upon Tyne. Published by ncjMedia, (a division of Trinity Mirror), The Journal is produced every weekday and Saturday morning and is complemented by its sister publications the Evening Chronicle and the Sunday Sun.

The newspaper mainly has a middle-class and professional readership throughout North East England, covering a mixture of regional, national and international news. It also has a daily business section and sports page as well as the monthly Culture magazine and weekly property supplement Homemaker.

News coverage about farming is also an important part of the paper with a high readership in rural Northumberland.

The first edition of the Newcastle Journal was printed on 12 May 1832, and subsequent Saturdays, by Hernaman and Perring, 69 Pilgrim Street, Newcastle. On 12 May 2007, The Journal celebrated its 175th Anniversary and 49,584th issue.

Journal (1977 TV series)

Journal is a Canadian short film television series which aired on CBC Television in 1977.

Premise

Independent short films were featured in this series. For example, Spence Bay was created in their northern community by a group of secondary school students and their teacher. Other films included Peggy Peacock and Jock Mlynek's North Hatley Antique Sale and Quebec Village; Mark Irwin's The Duel - Fencing, For The Love Of A Horse, Lacrosse, Sailaway, and Step By Step; and Tony Hall's Serpent River Paddlers.

This series was unrelated to CBC's news and current affairs series The Journal.

Scheduling

This 15-minute series was broadcast Sundays at 12:00 p.m. (Eastern) from 15 May to 25 September 1977.

Aries (comics)

The incarnations of Aries are fictional supervillains appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The characters were usually depicted as members of incarnations of the supervillain group, the Zodiac.

In the history of the Marvel Universe, seven different characters have assumed the role of Aries. All of them have been members of the villainous Zodiac and used horns on their head to ram their opponents. The third Aries was a Life Model Decoy created by Jake Fury. The second and fourth Aries' were African-American.

Publication history

The original human Aries, Marcus Lassiter, first appeared in The Avengers #72 (January 1970), and was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Sal Buscema. The character subsequently appears in Avengers #82 (November 1970), in which he is killed.

The second human Aries, Grover Raymond, first appeared in The Avengers #120-123 (February–May 1974), and was created by Steve Englehart and Bob Brown. The character subsequently appears in Ghost Rider #7 (August 1974), and Captain America #177-178 (September–October 1974), in which he is killed.

Aries (rocket)

Aries is the designation of a United States rocket derived from the LGM-30 Minuteman missile which is used for the testing of anti-missile defense systems. The Aries has a length of 9.20 meters, a diameter of 1.16 meters, a launch weight of 6.3 tons, a launch thrust of 200 kN and a ceiling of 500 km.
