Raj

Raj (Hindi: राज) in different contexts means "rule", "king", "ruler", "emperor" or "royalty" in the Sanskrit language families of the Indian sub-continent including in Romanes, its closest Indo-European relative. Also, Raj is a Polish and Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian word meaning "paradise" or "heaven".

Camp Lazlo is an American animated television series created by Joe Murray. It features a large cast of anthropomorphic animal characters. The series takes place in Camp Kidney, a Boy Scout summer camp in the fictional town of Prickly Pines.

The cartoon is set in a universe inhabited solely by anthropomorphic animals of many species and focuses on a trio of campers attending a poorly run summer camp known as Camp Kidney; the series focuses on three "bean scouts": Lazlo the eccentric, optimistic monkey, Raj the Indian elephant, and Clam the albino pygmy rhinoceros. Other characters include the Camp Kidney staff, including the ill-tempered Scoutmaster Lumpus and his mild-mannered assistant Slinkman the banana slug. The program also features Lazlo's assortment of fellow campers, characters from a rival summer camp attended solely by girls, and some of the odd locales of the town of Prickly Pines.

Lazlo won the award for "Best New Character" at the Pulcinella Awards in 2006.

There are two communities having Raj caste: Rajputs and punjabi. Here the description is given for Raj (Punjabi), the traditional brave solders of North India. Raj caste is not only Punjabi. There are Raj people who are rajputs. Like other Punjabi artisan castes, the community has a mixed origin, with what was once a guild evolving into an caste. In western Uttar Pradesh, a fair number of the community is of rajputah origin. The community gets its name from the Hindi word rajah or headman. The Raj are found in greater numbers in the districts of Moradabad, Bijnor, Saharanpur and Muzaffarnagar.

Monkey's Audio

Monkey's Audio is an algorithm and file format for lossless audio data compression. Monkey's Audio does not discard data during the process of encoding, unlike lossy compression methods such as AAC, MP3, Vorbis and Musepack.

Data file compression is employed in order to reduce bandwidth, file transfer time, or storage requirements. A digital recording (such as a CD) encoded to the Monkey's Audio format can be decompressed into an identical copy of the original audio data. As with the FLAC and Apple Lossless format, files encoded to Monkey's Audio are typically reduced to about half of the original size, with data transfer rates and bandwidth requirements being reduced accordingly.

Monkey's Audio's advantages are better compression rates compared to FLAC and WavPack, as well as multithreading/multicore support. Monkey's Audio main drawbacks are the fact that it employs a symmetric algorithm, meaning the decoding takes comparable resources to encoding, which makes it unsuitable for all but the fastest portable players (via Rockbox firmware), and that it has limited support on software platforms other than Windows; on other platforms only decoding is officially supported by third-party programs. Although the original source code is freely available, the license is not considered to be an open source one. A GPL version of the decoder has been independently written for Rockbox and then included in ffmpeg.

Ape (2012 film)

Ape is a 2012 American independent film written and directed by Joel Potrykus, starring Joshua Burge as Trevor Newandyke. The film is notable for reigniting the American indie slacker niche of the mid '90s, both in aesthetic and voice.

Plot

A black comedy and rage fantasy, the film follows failing stand-up comic Trevor as he suffers one humiliation after another, both on stage and off. His only outlet is a secret pyromania on display at home and in public. His anger hits the streets after making a deal with a man dressed as the Devil.

Ape made its world premiere at the 2012 Locarno Film Festival, where it won Best New Director and Best First Feature Special Mention at the festival. It went on to make its North American premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival, and US premiere at AFI Fest in Hollywood. The film received a theatrical release through Factory 25.

Reception

Ape has received generally favorable reviews from critics. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a rating of 100%, based on 5 reviews.
