Chaos and Creation in the Backyard

Chaos and Creation in the Backyard is the thirteenth solo studio album by Paul McCartney, released in 2005. A long time in the making, the set was produced by Radiohead and Beck collaborator Nigel Godrich at George Martin's suggestion.

McCartney plays almost all of the instruments, similar to his 1970 album McCartney and the 1980 McCartney II album. In addition, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard marks the first time since 1984's Give My Regards to Broad Street that McCartney was not involved in producing one of his studio albums.

Chaos and Creation in the Backyard was McCartney's last rock album release for longtime label EMI. He signed a deal with Hear Music, owned by Starbucks, in March 2007.

Music and lyrics

McCartney said that the song "Friends to Go" is influenced by, and dedicated to George Harrison.

Production

Upon being asked to produce an album with McCartney, Godrich admitted:

The two tentatively began a collaboration, recording the songs "This Never Happened Before" and "Follow Me" which was enough to convince both of them that they could develop an album. Godrich's participation was active: he inspired McCartney to write the song "At the Mercy", added piano loops on "How Kind of You" and worked with McCartney to slow the tempo of "Riding to Vanity Fair" which McCartney says "changed the mood completely". Although initially taken aback, McCartney appreciated Godrich's tenacity and honesty.

Anyway (Martina McBride song)

"Anyway" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music artist Martina McBride. The song was released in November 2006 following a performance on the 2006 CMA Awards, and served as the lead-off single from her album Waking Up Laughing. McBride wrote the song with The Warren Brothers.

History

The song marks the first time in Martina's career that she has co-written one of her own singles. It is an inspirational song based on a favorite poem of Mother Teresa's, written by Kent Keith, which he originally titled, "The Paradoxical Commandments".

At the 2007 Country Music Association Awards, "Anyway" was nominated for Single of the Year and Song of the Year awards.

"Anyway" was first released on November 6, 2006, where McBride performed the song to promote it. However, the single was released to the iTunes Store February 13, 2007.

Kristy Lee Cook performed the song on the seventh season of American Idol on Top 8 Inspirational Week in 2008.

Lauren Alaina performed the song on the 10th season of American Idol on Top 4 Inspirational Week in 2011. It was considered as one of the best versions of the original song.

Anyway (album)

Anyway is the fourth album from the British progressive rock band Family. Side one was recorded at a concert at Fairfield Halls in Croydon, south London; side two was a collection of studio recordings.

The UK edition of the album came housed in a plastic see-through sleeve with a gatefold non-pocket inner card design by Hamish and Gustav. The outer illustration was licensed from Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Milan and was titled 'Mortars With Explosive Projectiles' by Leonardo da Vinci. No track listing was printed on the outside of the sleeve.

Once again the production credit for the album was attributed to Family (for their company Bradgate Bush Ltd) and Tony Gourvish (manager) was credited as 'Co-ordination'. Tony is credited between live tracks by singer Roger Chapman as 'shining in his new Kings Road suit'.

The album was released on the Reprise label (RSX 9005) as a stereo pressing. Editions are known to have been released in France (gatefold card sleeve, no bag SRV 6120 and later in a stouter card sleeve with a greyer coloured illustration) and Canada and the USA (singlepocket card sleeve with 'In My Own Time' - a later single, - added as first track on the studio side with the track 'Normans' severely edited to make room). The Canadian edition was released on the United Artists label after Family had delivered 'Bandstand' the following album, and had an explanatory sticker on the shrink-wrap.

Powerhouse (TV series)

PowerHouse is a United States television series produced by the Educational Film Center at Northern Virginia ETV and aired on PBS for 16 episodes in 1982 (two episodes never aired). It billed itself as "a 16-part series for young people and their families," with the target audience being primarily kids, preteens, teenagers,& young adults, and it was widely praised by educational groups. The series was later rerun by Nickelodeon in the mid-1980s.

Description

Set in Washington, DC, PowerHouse is focused on the adventures of a racially and ethnically diverse group of five teenagers and one adult from the inner city, based at a former boxing and sports gym headquarters turned community center for kids and teens. The center was founded by Brenda Gaines, a woman who inherited the place from her late father, a former boxing champion. The basic theme of the series is that every person is a source of creativity and power. “We all have a PowerHouse deep down inside,” it said in the theme song of the show.

Powerhouse (1997 band)

Powerhouse is a British production duo of Hamilton Dean and Julian Slatter who reached #38 in the UK with "Rhythm of the Night" in December 1997.
