Antony Duncan Rowe (4 August 1924 – 5 December 2003), or Tony Rowe, was an English rower who competed for Great Britain at the 1948 Summer Olympics and won the Diamond Challenge Sculls at Henley Royal Regatta in 1950. He was later a printer during a period of great change and developed "a successful model for short-run printing".
Rowe was born at Cookham Dean, Berkshire the sixth of seven children of George Rowe and his wife Molly Allen. His father had founded the stockbroking firm Rowe and Pitman in 1895 and his mother was a violinist. He was educated at Eton College where he was captain of Boats and president of Pop. He left Eton during the Second World War and joined the Royal Navy Submarine Service straight from school. In 1944 he was posted to the Far East, where he took part in the Japanese surrender of Hong Kong (30 August 1945).
After the war Rowe went to Trinity College, Oxford on a scholarship and read PPE. He started rowing again, became captain of Trinity College Boat Club, and was a member of the Oxford crew in the 1948 Boat Race. He excelled in the single scull and participated in the 1948 Summer Olympics. There he reached the Men's Single Sculls semi-finals, in the same heat as the American Jack Kelly (who lost a close race as Rowe finished third; neither advanced to the final).Jack Kelly senior invited Rowe to Philadelphia for another race. Rowe lost to Kelly Jr. and sold his rigger in order to take Jack's sister Grace out to dinner. In 1949 Rowe was president of the Oxford club and a member of its Boat Race crew that was narrowly beaten by Cambridge. He was also runner-up in the Wingfield Sculls to Farn Carpmael. In 1950 he won the Diamond Challenge Sculls at Henley. He also took part in the 1950 British Empire Games and won the silver medal behind the Australian Merv Wood—who had won both the Olympic gold and the Diamond Sculls in 1948. Rowe coached the Oxford boat from 1954 to 1956 and in 1963.

Metropolitan Antony (Russian: Митрополит Антоний, secular name Aleksey Pavlovich Khrapovitsky, Russian: Алексей Павлович Храповицкий; 17 March 1863 – 10 August 1936) was an Orthodox Christian bishop in Russia, who after the Russian Revolution of 1917 played a part in restoring the Moscow Patriarchate. After Lenin and the Bolsheviks seized power in October 1917 he left Russia, and became a founder of Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.
Aleksey Pavlovich Khrapovitsky was born in Russia on 17 March 1863 in Vatagino (near Novgorod), the son of a landowner. He studied theology at Saint Petersburg Theological Academy, from which he graduated in 1885. In that year he became a monk and took the name Antony in honor of St. Antony the Roman of Novgorod.
He taught briefly at the Academy where he had studied, and then at the Moscow Theological Academy (1890-1894) and as Rector of the Kazan Theological Academy (1894-1900). During the latter period he was appointed vicar-bishop of Kazan (1897). In 1900 Antony was made bishop of Ufa, and in 1902 bishop of Volhynia and Zhitomir. In this position he suppressed the Eastern Catholics of Ukraine as well as nationalism within the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Rowe may refer to:
Rowe is a town in Franklin County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 393 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Rowe was the site of fishing and foraging for local Native American tribes. The area was first visited by white settlers in 1744, and was the site of a fort to guard against raids. In 1762, the town lands were purchased by the Rev. Cornelius Jones, who named it "Myrifield" after the Greek word for "thousand". The town had enough settlers by 1785 to have it incorporated as a town, renamed by the Massachusetts General Court after John Rowe, a prominent Boston merchant.
The town of Rowe grew around mills on the river, but also had other industries, including sulfur, talc and soapstone mining. This was nowhere more evident than in the now abandoned settlement at the Davis Mine. In the late 1880s, with the addition of the railroad along the river, the area had become somewhat of a small resort town. But, by the advent of the 1900s, most industry had begun to dry up, leaving the town fairly rural until the 1950s. At that point, with the "baby boom" underway, Rowe became the site of Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station, the first nuclear power plant in New England, near the Sherman Dam along the Vermont border. The plant was in operation from 1960 to 1992, and the plant is now completely decommissioned, with the nuclear waste set to be transported to Yucca Mountain's containment facilities upon their completion in 2020.
Rowe is a common surname; it has also been used as the name for several places. It is of English origin.
