Anthems (Laibach album)

Anthems is a compilation by the Slovenian industrial music group Laibach. It was released in 2004 as a double album. The first CD contains a collection of Laibach's best tracks throughout the years, while the second disc accommodates remixes of Laibach songs by different artists. Besides the CDs, the Anthems box also contains a 44 page booklet with a history of Laibach plus several paintings and photographs by and of the band.

! is an album by The Dismemberment Plan. It was released on October 2, 1995, on DeSoto Records. The band's original drummer, Steve Cummings, played on this album but left shortly after its release.

?! is the third studio album by Italian rapper Caparezza, and his first release not to use the former stage name MikiMix.

Reception

Reviewing the album for Allmusic, Jason Birchmeier wrote, "The Italian rapper drops his rhymes with just as much fluency and dexterity as his American peers throughout the album. [...] Caparezza's mastery of the Italian dialect [makes] this album so stunning."

Album

Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century, first as books of individual 78rpm records, then from 1948 as vinyl LP records played at 33 ¹⁄₃ rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though in the 21st century albums sales have mostly focused on compact disc (CD) and MP3 formats. The audio cassette was a format used in the late 1970s through to the 1990s alongside vinyl.

An album may be recorded in a recording studio (fixed or mobile), in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. Recording may take a few hours to several years to complete, usually in several takes with different parts recorded separately, and then brought or "mixed" together. Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing are termed "live", even when done in a studio. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, so as to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", allow for reverberation, which creates a "live" sound. The majority of studio recordings contain an abundance of editing, sound effects, voice adjustments, etc. With modern recording technology, musicians can be recorded in separate rooms or at separate times while listening to the other parts using headphones; with each part recorded as a separate track.

Anthems (Pure Love album)

Anthems is the debut album by British-American rock band Pure Love, released February 4, 2013. The group formed in 2011 after the departure of lead singer Frank Carter from the hardcore punk band Gallows, after which he began sharing song ideas with Jim Carroll of The Hope Conspiracy and The Suicide File; the two had met when Gallows supported The Hope Conspiracy in 2006. The group signed to Vertigo Records in February 2012 and began working with producer Gil Norton, playing a number of new songs in their debut performance at the NME Awards that February. Prior to Anthem's release, the band debuted several songs online as music videos and downloads. The album was initially scheduled for release in October 2012 but was delayed to February 2013.

Laibach was the debut album of the Slovenian industrial group Laibach. It was first released in 1985, although it was only in 1991 that it was released on CD. The tracks "Police Blow" and "First TV Generation" were composed by Laibach's sub-group 300.000 V.K.. It was released again in 1999 with additional bonus songs.

Laibach (Slovene pronunciation: [ˈlájbax]) is a Slovenian avant-garde music group associated with the industrial, martial, and neo-classical genres. Formed in 1980, Trbovlje, Slovenia, at the time SFR Yugoslavia, Laibach represents the musical wing of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) art collective, a collective Laibach which helped found in 1984. The name "Laibach" is the German name for the Slovenian capital city, Ljubljana.

History

Laibach was formed on June 1, 1980, in Trbovlje, a mining-industry town. Laibach is the German language name of the city of Ljubljana, a name used during the period when Slovenia was a part of the Habsburg Monarchy and the World War II occupation of Yugoslavia. At the time, the group collaborated with art groups Irwin (painting) and Rdeči Pilot (theatre). Since its formation, Laibach had been preparing a multimedia project "Rdeči revirji" ("Red District"), a piece intended to aiming to challenge and provoke the current political structures in Trbovlje. The group's use of Malevich's black crosses on their posters was determined to be "improper and irresponsible," leading to the cancellation of the performance of Red District, an action which was met with considerable negative reaction in the media and by the general public. At this early stage of their career, Laibach's visuals employed mining iconography. Eventually, the group would add such symbols as Triglav, deer horns and the Malevich's black cross rounded with a gear.
