Annie Liu

Annie Liu (born 1 April 1981) is a Taiwanese Canadian actress based in Hong Kong. Liu studied product design at the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada, but left the school on her second year to pursue an acting career. Liu debuted in the 2005 film, Mob Sister, and earned a Best New Performer nomination at the 25th Hong Kong Film Awards for her performance. She is managed by Filmko Entertainment.

Linköping University

Linköping University (in Swedish: Linköpings universitet, LiU) is a state university in Linköping, Sweden. Linköping University was granted full university status in 1975 and is now one of Sweden's larger academic institutions. Education, research and PhD training are the mission of four faculties: Arts and Sciences, Educational Sciences, Medicine and Health Sciences and the Institute of Technology. In order to facilitate interdisciplinary work, there are 14 large departments combining knowledge from several disciplines and often belonging under more than one faculty. History

The origins of Linköping University date back to the 1960s. In 1965, The Swedish National Legislative Assembly (Riksdag) decided to locate some programmes within the fields of technology and medicine to Linköping. In 1967 a branch of Stockholm University was placed in Linköping, offering education within humanities, social sciences and natural sciences. Two years later a unit for medical training and the Institute of Technology were established. In 1970 all activities were brought together in three faculties within the Linköping University College: the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, the Faculty of Medicine and the Institute of Technology. Linköping University was established in 1975.

Life Left to Go

Life Left to Go is the debut full-length album by alternative rock band SafetySuit, released on May 13, 2008, through Universal Motown Records. It was produced by Greg Archilla, who had previously collaborated with SafetySuit on their independent EP. The album produced three singles, the most successful of which were "Stay" and "Someone Like You"; both charted on several Billboard charts in 2008 and 2009. The song "Annie" was also released as a single in late 2009. The album was met with a highly positive response by critics.

Critical reception

Life Left to Go received highly favorable reviews from critics. Tom Spinelli of Melodic.net, who gave the album 4.5 stars out of 5, declared that "if you are looking for the modern rock album of the year, this may be a top contender in your collection", as "SatefySuit releases their masterful, epic debut Life Left To Go with enormous melodic power".Alternative Addiction described Life Left to Go as "easily the best debut album so far in 2008", praising both frontman Doug Brown as "an impressive vocalist...[who] absolutely gets what it takes to make a great song--good melody and good lyrics", and Dave Garofolo, whose guitar work he called "original and unorthodox...[He is] what makes SafetySuit unique".Sputnikmusic notes that "it’s hard to point out the best songs because nothing in here is disappointing", and that SafetySuit "really seem[s] to have a bright future in the music industry". However, they do criticize the band for the narrow topical range in their lyrics, saying that "my only problem resides on the lyrical part, they’re all about love songs and relationship issues."

"Annie" is a 1999 single by Canadian rock band Our Lady Peace from the album Happiness...Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch. It was less successful than other singles from that album, such as Thief.

Plot

The song revolves around a character, Annie, who seems to be unpopular, weird, and perhaps insane. Raine Maida has stated that this song is about a girl contemplating murdering students at her school, similar to the 1999 Columbine High School Massacre, which occurred three weeks after this song was written.

Writing

"I don't talk about my lyrics much (to the band)," Maida says, "But the day I heard the news, I said: 'Guys, the song Annie is written exactly about this.' I felt the need to tell them because I didn't want them to think that morning I had been reading the paper, writing lyrics."

Origin

While many of the songs on Happiness... were developed from ideas brought into the studio that remained unchanged throughout recording, "Annie" developed mainly from jam sessions over a long period of time. "It [Annie] took a long time," said Maida, "We had the verse for the longest time and it took weeks in the rehearsal hall just playing it as a band and finally the chorus happened. And it's all out, now it's a song. Jeremy started the beat to 'Annie' with Duncan doing the bass groove and you know what? right away you know this is something to work on."
