Anna Home

Anna Margaret Home (/ˈhjuːm/ HYOOM) OBE (born 13 January 1938) is an English television producer and executive who worked for most of her career at the BBC.

Early career

After graduating from Oxford University, where she read Modern History at St Anne's College from 1956, Home joined the BBC in 1960. Initially working as a studio manager in BBC Radio, Home joined BBC Television in 1964 as a researcher for Play School. "At the time it was quite an achievement [for a woman] to get into university, not just the BBC", observed Home in 2013.

With Joy Whitby and Molly Cox, she developed Jackanory, which began its long run in 1965. "At first people were unwilling to participate in this unknown programme", Home recalled in 1997. "But when actors realised it was the opportunity to have 15 minutes' solo experience on television, they began to queue up to get on it, and having done a Jackanory became a bit like having done your Desert Island Discs." Comedy actor Kenneth Williams, one of the most frequent participants in the series, recalled Home telling him: "Never sound as if you're patronizing the young."

Home (Hothouse Flowers album)

Home is the second album by the Irish rock band Hothouse Flowers. Released in 1990 via London Records, it reached number 2 on the UK Albums Chart and spent 1 week at number 1 on the Australian charts. The band did an extended tour in Australia, and had built up a significant following there, which may have contributed to their success in the charts. Two singles from the album charted in the United Kingdom: "Give It Up" (#30) and "I Can See Clearly Now" (#23). "Give It Up" also charted in the United States (#2 Modern Rock Tracks/#29 Mainstream Rock Tracks).

Home (2009 film)

Home is a 2009 documentary by Yann Arthus-Bertrand. The film is almost entirely composed of aerial shots of various places on Earth. It shows the diversity of life on Earth and how humanity is threatening the ecological balance of the planet. The English version was read by Glenn Close. The Spanish version was read by Salma Hayek. The Arabic version was read by Mahmood Said. The film had its world festival premiere at the Dawn Breakers International Film Festival in 2012. Before the festival premier, it was released simultaneously on 5 June 2009, in cinemas across the globe, on DVD, Blu-ray, television, and on YouTube, opening in 181 countries. The film was financed by Kering, a French multinational holding company specializing in retail shops and luxury brands, as part of their public relation strategy.

Production

Home was filmed in various stages due to the expanse of the areas portrayed. Taking over eighteen months to complete the film, director Yann Arthus-Bertrand and a camera man, a camera engineer and a pilot flew in a small helicopter through various regions in over fifty countries. The filming was done using high-definition "Cineflex" cameras which were suspended from a gyro-stabilized sphere from rails on the base of the helicopter. These cameras, originally manufactured for army firing equipment, reduce vibrations helping to capture smooth images, which appear as if they had been filmed from crane arms or dollies. After almost every flight, recordings were immediately checked to ensure they were usable. After filming was complete, Besson and his crew had over 488 hours of footage to edit.

Anna (singer)

Anna (born Anna Cote-Wursler on July 9, 1987) is a singer of the group Bon-Bon Blanco. She has five brothers and is the youngest sibling in the family. She uses Anna in her solo efforts, but she uses her real name when part of the band. She was born in Tokyo, Japan, but she has American citizenship.

Her husband is Japanese baseball player Manabu Mima.

Anna (1987 film)

Anna is a 1987 film directed by Yurek Bogayevicz, it was adapted by Agnieszka Holland from an unauthorized story by Holland and Bogayevicz, based on the real life of Polish actress Elżbieta Czyżewska. The film stars Sally Kirkland, Robert Fields, Paulina Porizkova, Steven Gilborn and Larry Pine.

Kirkland was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, and she won a Golden Globe and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture.

Plot

The story of a Czech actress, looking for work in New York City, who sees her protegée shine while she herself struggles.
