Animato! was a magazine that was dedicated to animation, generally viewed by animation fans as a successor to Michael Barrier's pioneering Funnyworld and David Mruz's Mindrot/Animania.
Animato! was founded and initially edited by Michael A. Ventrella in Boston in the early 1980s and featured the film Rock & Rule as its first cover. Harry McCracken later become editor and expanded the magazine to full sized with a color cover.
Ventrella later sold the rights to Patrick Duquette, who began distributing through newsstands. It ceased publication in the late 1990s.
Animato is a compilation of short films by Mike Jittlov, making extensive use of stop motion, pixilation, kinestasis, animation, and multiple exposures. It features the films The Interview, Swing Shift, Rocketman, The Leap, Time Tripper, and Fashionation.
It was screened at Filmex in 1977. Regis Philbin was so impressed by the short Time Tripper that he had it televised.
Fashionation is one of the animated segments. The short was made using kinestasis, the animation of cutouts, mostly fashion magazine cutouts illustrating the lyrics of the song "I Know a Place" by Petula Clark. It also extensively used multiple exposures, pixilation and stop motion for the brief live-action sequence.

Animato is an album by guitarist John Abercrombie with keyboardist Vince Mendoza and drummer Jon Christensen recorded in 1989 and released on the ECM label
The Allmusic review by Michael G. Nastos awarded the album 3½ stars stating "An unusual but beautiful item in John Abercrombie's discography, and a coming out for Mendoza, Animato signals a different direction for the ECM label, enabling electronic sounds in a way they had never fully embraced prior". The Penguin Guide to Jazz awarded the album 4 stars stating "one of Abercrombie's most cohesive and swinging sets. He sounds completely in control of the music".

Somebody out there better get this
Not many people can do it like this
How about some speakers to amplify me
How about a rhyme to fortify me
Life's messy so I clarify it
Simplifying things for everybody
I need someone who's true
Someone who does the laundry too
So what you gonna do
Please don't forget to follow-through
I take my diamond shoes
Someone who tries to be on time
Do what you said you'll do
I hope you like to follow-through
All that I need's a bit o' practice
My mind is set on bigger business
This is not a time for reminiscing
This is something new and interesting
Why are you trying to classify it
This is music for all humanity from me
Dreaming of hip hop tunes
They say you've got the proper tools
So what you gonna do
Keep doing things the way you do
I take my diamond shoes
Someone who tries to be on time
Do what you came to do
I came to see you follow-through
I need someone who's true
Someone who does the laundry too
So what you gonna do
Please don't forget to follow-through
I take my diamond shoes
Someone who tries to be on time
Do what you said you'll do
I hope you like to follow-through
