Secret Warriors

Secret Warriors is a Marvel series featuring Nick Fury and Team White, a team of superpowered agents in the Marvel Comics Universe. Created by Brian Michael Bendis and Alex Maleev, the characters were introduced in Mighty Avengers #13, and debuted as a team in Secret Invasion #3, both published in 2008.

Publication history

The team was introduced in the Secret Invasion tie-in issues of Mighty Avengers and then featured in their own ongoing series. This series was co-plotted by Bendis with Jonathan Hickman writing. and was one of the titles launching as part of the Dark Reign storyline. The series was promoted by a series of passwords and clues given in solicitations for upcoming issues. A Marvel spokesman stated that further passwords would be released for the website later on.

Fictional team biography

Secret Invasion

The characters were thrown into battle for the first time when the Skrulls kicked their invasion of Earth into high gear. Manhattan became a war zone with Super Skrulls devastating the city, and Fury led the team into the heart of the battle. The arrival of the team turned the tide of battle enough to rescue the combined forces of the Initiative and the Young Avengers from being killed by the Skrulls. Fury rallied all the other heroes together with his agents and began a series of hit and run attacks on the Skrull forces throughout the city. But this tactic would only get them so far. It took all of them just to take out a few Super Skrulls at a time. A better chance at defeating the Skrull invasion came at the sight of Thor's lightning calling them all to Central Park. There, the team gathered with all of the other assembled heroes and repelled the Skrull invasion. In the immediate aftermath of the heroes' victory, Fury and his agents quickly took their leave and went back underground.

Hellfire (song)

"Hellfire" is a song from Disney's 1996 animated feature The Hunchback of Notre Dame. The song is sung by the film's main antagonist, Judge Claude Frollo, who is voiced by Tony Jay.

When sinful thoughts regarding the beautiful Romani woman Esmeralda enter Frollo's mind, he "panics and seeks to rid himself of [its] source". This internal struggle prompts "Hellfire", which has been described as "one of the best Disney villain songs of all time". Frollo "confronts his lusting for Esmeralda, blaming her for turning towards darkness, and pleading to be saved". He sings "destroy Esmeralda, and let her taste the fires of hell, or else let her be mine and mine alone" while the image of Esmeralda "provocatively danc[es] in front of him".

This "scene of lust and longing" that the song is centered on received much press coverage at the time of the film's release, along with the alterations made to give the film a PG rating.

"Heaven's Light" and "Hellfire"

The song was intended to contrast with the song "Heaven's Light", which was sung by Quasimodo moments earlier, expressing his feelings of love for Esmeralda, while "Hellfire" focuses on Frollo's internal conflict between his feelings of lust for her and his conscience and hate for the gypsies.

Angel (season 5)

The fifth and final season of the television series Angel, the spin-off of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, premiered on October 1, 2003 on The WB and concluded its 22-episode season and its television run on May 19, 2004. The season aired on Wednesdays at 9:00 pm ET. This was the first and only season of Angel to air following the finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Angel is the third single on Theory of a Deadman's fifth studio album Savages. The single was released on February 24, 2015.

Composition

"Angel" is a ballad about a man who's in love with an angel but realizes that he eventually has to let her go. Randy Shatkowski of Underground Pulse describes the song as an "electronic-tinged lost love ballad" and noted Tyler Connolly's vocals to be his most vulnerable yet.

Chart positions

"Angel" peaked at No. 2 on the Mainstream Rock chart, making it the band's highest peaking single there since "Lowlife" reached No. 1 in 2011. The song has also gained airplay on SiriusXM the Pulse.

The Fall (band)

The Fall are an English post-punk band, formed in 1976 in Prestwich, Greater Manchester. With an ever-changing line up, the Fall essentially consists of founder and only constant member, Mark E. Smith, who has quipped, "If it's me and your granny on bongos, then it's The Fall".

First associated with the late 1970s punk movement, the band's music has evolved through numerous stylistic changes, often concurrently with changes in the group's line-up. Nonetheless, the Fall's music is typically characterised by repetition and an abrasive guitar-driven sound, and is always underpinned by Smith's typically cryptic lyrics, described by Steve Huey as "abstract poetry filled with complicated wordplay, bone-dry wit, cutting social observations, and general misanthropy."

The Fall have been called "the most prolific band of the British post-punk movement." They have released thirty-one studio albums as of 2015, and more than three times that number when live albums and compilations (often released against Smith's wishes) are taken into account. While the Fall have never achieved widespread success beyond minor hit singles in the late 1980s, they have maintained a strong cult following. They were long associated with BBC disc jockey John Peel, who championed them from early on in their career. Peel described the Fall as his favourite band, famously explaining, "they are always different; they are always the same."
