Neumarkt, South Tyrol

Neumarkt, literally "new market", (Italian: Egna) is a comune (municipality) in South Tyrol in northern Italy, located about 25 kilometres (16 mi) south of the city of Bolzano.

Geography

As of 30 November 2010, it had a population of 5,001 and an area of 23 square kilometres (8.9 sq mi).

Neumarkt borders the following municipalities: Kaltern, Kurtatsch, Kurtinig, Margreid, Montan, Salorno and Tramin.

Neumarkt is the chief town of the Überetsch-Unterland district. It is the main cultural, historical and artistic center with a very nice old town. The agglomeration includes the neighborhoods of Vill, Laag and Mazon. In the entire district Neumarkt is only the third most populated town after Laives and Eppan, which are agglomerated to the capital city Bolzano.

The town is situated on the plain, elevation 214 metres (702 ft), on the left side of the Adige river.

Neumarkt was a Roman village on the Claudia Augusta road; it was called Endidae . The sightseeing include the arcades of the old town, the parish church, the Local Culture Museum and the church of Vill.

Hucknall Aerodrome

Hucknall Aerodrome (ICAO: EGNA) was located 5 NM (9.3 km; 5.8 mi) north northwest of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England and west of Hucknall town. The aerodrome had been operated by the Merlin Flying Club since 1971, it is owned by Rolls-Royce Group PLC following previous ownership by both the Air Ministry and Ministry of Aviation. Hucknall Aerodrome had a CAA Ordinary Licence (Number P507) that allowed daytime flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction as authorised by the licensee and was not available for public transport passenger flights required to use a licensed aerodrome. It was a C.1916 grass aerodrome of significant historical importance. On 1 March 2015 the aerodrome closed indefinitely and it is due to be turned into a housing and industrial estate.

History

The Great War

Hucknall Aerodrome dates to 1916 when it opened under No. 12 (Training) Group, 27th Wing, housing No. 15 Training Depot of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) operating the Curtiss Jenny JN-4. During February 1918, No. 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron (see No. 218 Squadron RAF) arrived operating the de Havilland DH.9. On 1 March 1918, No. 130 Squadron (see No. 130 Squadron RAF) arrived also operating the de Havilland DH.9. On 18 March 1918, No. 205 Squadron arrived operating both the de Havilland DH.4 and DH.9. During April, No. 135 Squadron RAF was formed but were allocated no aircraft and disbanded on 4 July 1918 along with No. 130 Squadron. On arrival, all of these squadrons were absorbed into No. 15 Training Depot and following creation of the Royal Air Force (RAF) on 1 April 1918, No. 15 Training Depot RFC was absorbed into this new organisation. On 18 August 1918 a detachment of the United States Army Air Service arrived, the 23d Aero Squadron (Repair) who were engaged with the depot in aircraft and engine repair activities. On 5 November 1918 the 23d Aero Squadron (Repair) left.

Ange

Ange is a French progressive rock band formed in September 1969 by the Décamps brothers, Francis (keyboards) and Christian (vocals, accordion, acoustic guitar and keyboards).

History

Ange was initially influenced by Genesis and King Crimson, and its music was quite theatrical and poetic. Its first success in France was the cover of a Jacques Brel song, Ces gens-là, on its second album Le Cimetière des Arlequins. The band provided its first concert on January 30, 1970 at the cultural center "La Pépinière", in Belfort, France. It performed 110 concerts in England from 1973 to 1976, opening for Genesis at the Reading Festival in England, on August 26, 1973, fronting some 30.000 listeners.

One of the reasons for which the band was unable to break through into the British market was because they sang in French. Ange eventually released an English-speaking version of its fifth album Par les fils de Mandrin (By the sons of Mandrin), which was hard to find and sold poorly, although this version has since been made available on CD. Unfortunately, after three albums, the quality of creation had started to decrease, and Par les fils de Mandrin was probably not a good choice to try to break into the British market. Au delà du délire, third album, could be the band's best effort and is recommended as the one to listen to as a starter, for newcomers to the Ange progressive phenomenon.

Angel (coin)

The angel was an English gold coin introduced by Edward IV in 1465. It was patterned after the French angelot or ange, which had been issued since 1340. The name derived from its representation of the archangel Michael slaying a dragon. As it was considered a new issue of the noble, it was also called the angel-noble.

In 1472, the half-angel was introduced with a similar design weighing 40 grains (2.6 grams) with a diameter of 20 to 21 millimeters.

Reverse: Depicts a ship with arms and rays of sun at the masthead. Legend: per crucem tuam salva nos christe redemptor, meaning "By Thy cross save us, Christ Redeemer."

Value

The angel varied in value from 6 shillings 8 pence to 11 shillings between Edward's reign and the time of James I. Under Charles I, it was last coined in 1642.
