Andrew Baldwin

Commander Dr. Andrew James "Andy" Baldwin, USN (born February 5, 1977, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA) is a US Naval Officer, ironman triathlete, humanitarian, and physician. He is best known to the American television audience as the bachelor of the tenth season of the reality dating show The Bachelor dubbed The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman. On November 13, 2007, he told Honolulu, Hawaii's ABC TV affiliate KITV that he was shortly to be deployed to Bahrain. Marianas Variety, Micronesia's leading newspaper, recorded that LCDR Andy Baldwin "is part of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command (JPAC) team conducting recovery operations in Palau."

Biography

Early life

Andy Baldwin is the son of Roy Eugene Baldwin, Jr., a former two-term Pennsylvania State Representative (R-97th District), and Cynthia Laulani Baldwin, a high school mathematics teacher and he has a brother and sister. Baldwin graduated as valedictorian of Manheim Township High School's class of 1995. He worked as a paper boy, lifeguard, and had his own lawn mowing business to earn money for college, saving $25,000 before graduating high school. During high school, he played basketball, tennis, football, baseball, and was an All-American swimmer. He was named ESPN's National Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1995.

Andrew Baldwin (baseball)

Andrew Scott Baldwin (born October 20, 1982 in Duluth, Minnesota) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in the fifth Round of the 2004 Major League Baseball Draft. Baldwin's uncle, John Hiller, was a relief pitcher for the Detroit Tigers.

High school

Baldwin graduated from Hood River Valley High School in 2000.

College

Baldwin attended Texas A&M University and later transferred to Oregon State University. At OSU he had an 8-6 record. He was drafted in 2004 by the Philadelphia Phillies.

Professional career

Philadelphia Phillies

He began his career with the Class-A Short Season Batavia Muckdogs. There he compiled a 4-6 record with a 5.17 ERA in 15 starts. At the end of the season he went on to pitch in Florida Instructional League.

In 2005 Baldwin spent entire season with Class A Lakewood BlueClaws, where he led the South Atlantic League in innings pitched. He was named the Phillies Minor League Pitcher of the Week twice. He finished the season with a 5-12 record with a 4.77 ERA in 27 starts.
