American Heart

American Heart is a 1992 film by Martin Bell, starring Edward Furlong and Jeff Bridges. It was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award in a number of categories, and won in the Best Male Lead category.

Synopsis

American Heart tells the story of a recently released convict (Jeff Bridges) pursued by his 12-year-old son (Edward Furlong), who hungers for a father and insists on joining him on Seattle's skid row.

Production

Elements of the screenplay for American Heart was based on material originally covered in the documentary film Streetwise, such as the relationship between Dewayne and his father from Streetwise.

American Heart (song)

"American Heart" is a song written by Jim Beavers and Jonathan Singleton, and recorded by American country music artist Faith Hill. It was released on September 30, 2012 as the second single from her upcoming seventh studio album. The song was announced on her Twitter account and distributed for airplay the following day. For the Twitter debut, Hill responded to questions hashtagged #askfaith prior to her weekly performance on NBC Sunday Night Football that night. Prior to the official release, many local radio stations posted samples of her song or official music video on their websites.

Content

USA Today critic Elysa Gardner compared it to Dierks Bentley's "Home" when selecting it as the song of the week on October 1, 2012. Billy Dukes of the country music news website Taste of Country described the song as "a thick production made accessible by the wonder of Hill’s voice", further noting that "her performance rescues the song from drowning in cliches and heavy messages". Dukes noted that the song is targeting the same older audience that Martina McBride reached with "I'm Gonna Love You Through It". In her own words, Hill describes the song: "This song inspires. It grabs a hold of a very special place that we all have in our hearts. Times are hard and people are struggling, but our spirit as Americans always seems to prevail."

Adrenalin (band)

Adrenalin is an American rock band from East Detroit Michigan, that is perhaps best known for their song "Road of the Gypsy," featured in the 1986 film Iron Eagle.

Adrenalin is made up of six friends from elementary school (St. Veronica) to high school (Grosse Pointe North). Brian and Mark Pastoria, Jimmy and Mike Romeo, Bruce Schafer and Mike "Flash" Haggerty started the band in the mid-seventies with the help of lead singer David Larson.

Adrenalin created a huge buzz among fans and the music industry alike, as well as quickly earning the respect of musicians such as Bob Seger and Aerosmith. They continually won awards throughout the late '70s and well into the '80s when Marc Gilbert joined the band and were getting radio airplay across the country. Their albums boasted heartland rockers like "Don't Be Lookin Back," "Faraway Eyes," and "Road Of The Gypsy," a song featured in the film, Iron Eagle. Adrenalin was even in rotation when MTV was still a fledgling station that actually played music videos. They produced an EP, Don't Be Looking Back in 1983, and two albums, American Heart (1984) and Road of the Gypsy (1986) both produced by Vini Poncia.

Heart (journal)

Heart is a biweekly peer-reviewed medical journal covering all areas of cardiovascular medicine and surgery. It is the official journal of the British Cardiovascular Society. It was established in 1939 as the British Heart Journal and is published by the BMJ Group. The name was changed from British Heart Journal to Heart in 1996 with the start of volume 75.

Topics covered include coronary disease, electrophysiology, valve disease, imaging techniques, congenital heart disease (fetal, paediatric, and adult), heart failure, surgery, and basic science. Each issue also contains an extensive continuing professional education section ("Education in Heart").
