Always (Aziza Mustafa Zadeh album)

Always is the second album released by the Azeri jazz artist Aziza Mustafa Zadeh. It was released in 1993. For it, she won the Echo Prize from Sony and the Phono Academy Award.

"Vagif" is dedicated to the memory of Zadeh's father, the famous Azeri jazz musician and the founder of jazz-mugam, Vagif Mustafazadeh.

"Crying Earth" is a dedication to all who died in the Khojaly Massacre on 25 February 1992 during the Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Always (Erasure song)

"Always" is a synthpop ballad by British group Erasure. It was released in 1994 as the first single from their sixth studio album I Say I Say I Say. Mute Records issued the single in the UK, while Elektra Records released it in the U.S. "Always" was written by Erasure members Vince Clarke and Andy Bell, and is produced by Martyn Ware.

The song is built on the synthesized harmony of Clarke and Bell's subdued vocals and lyrics. The music video features Bell in a Chinese scroll painting-inspired backdrop, it was directed by the French filmmaker Jan Kounen.

The song quickly became Erasure's 13th Top 10 on the UK Singles Chart, peaking at number four. In the United States, the single became Erasure's third Top 20 hit on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 20, six years after their last major U.S. pop hit. On the U.S. Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart, "Always" climbed to number six.

The 2009 mix of the song (found on Pop! Remixed and on Total Pop! The First 40 Hits) is featured in the Robot Unicorn Attack video game.

Nova

A nova (plural novae or novas) is a cataclysmic nuclear explosion on a white dwarf, which causes a sudden brightening of the star. Novae are not to be confused with other brightening phenomena such as supernovae or luminous red novae. Novae are thought to occur on the surface of a white dwarf in a binary system when they are sufficiently near to one another, allowing material (mostly hydrogen) to be pulled from the companion star's surface onto the white dwarf. The nova is the result of the rapid fusion of the accreted hydrogen on the surface of the star, commencing a runaway fusion reaction.

Development

The development begins with two main sequence stars in a binary relation. One of the two evolves into a red giant leaving its remnant white dwarf core in orbit with the remaining star. The second star—which may be either a main sequence star, or an aging giant one as well—begins to shed its envelope onto its white dwarf companion when it overflows its Roche lobe. As a result, the white dwarf will steadily accrete matter from the companion's outer atmosphere; the white dwarf consists of degenerate matter, so the accreted hydrogen does not inflate as its temperature increases. Rapid, uncontrolled fusion occurs when the temperature of this accreted layer reaches ~20 million kelvin, initiating a burn via the CNO cycle.

Malta (band)

Malta was a Swedish band. It was a duo consisting of Claes af Geijerstam and Göran Fristorp. In 1973, they had to change their band name to Nova in order to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest 1973 to perform the song "You're Summer" in Luxembourg, which would put them in 5th place.

Nova (UK magazine)

Nova, published from March 1965 to October 1975, was a British magazine that has been described as "a politically radical, beautifully designed, intellectual women's magazine. In 1965 it discussed sex and the Pill, and epitomised the sophistication of London with its bold type and empty white space."

History

Founded by Harry Fieldhouse, Nova described itself as "the new kind of magazine for a new kind of woman". It was later edited by Dennis Hackett with Kevin d'Arcy as managing editor, Harry Peccinotti (Harry Peck) as art editor, Alma Birk as associate editor, and Molly Parkin as fashion editor. The Nova typeface, adapted from an old woodcut typeface, became a formative influence on typography for many years. The magazine was part of IPC Media.

Contributors to Nova included such notable and disparate writers as Graham Greene, Lynda Lee-Potter, Christopher Booker, Susan Sontag, and Agony aunt Irma Kurtz.Nova also published the autobiographical writing of Arthur Hopcraft, later expanded into his 1970 book The Great Apple Raid and Other Encounters of a Tin Chapel Tiro. In the early 1970s it featured experimental "impressionistic" fashion photographs by Helmut Newton, Don McCullin, and Terence Donovan. Illustrators included Mel Calman and Stewart Mackinnon.
