All Saints' Church (Easton, Maryland)

All Saints' Church is a historic Carpenter Gothic style Episcopal church at Easton, Talbot County, Maryland, United States. It is a small rectangular frame church constructed in 1900-1901. The exterior features of the church include a three-stage bell tower with a shingled spire. The interior features imported stained glass windows from Munich, Germany, along with decorative tile floors, a darkly stained exposed timber roof structure, and intricately carved church furniture. The church was designed by New York architect, Henry Martyn Congdon.

All Saints' Church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

All Saints' Church is a historic Episcopal church located at 100 Lower Marlboro Road (near the intersection of Southern Maryland Boulevard MD 4 and Solomons Island Road MD 2), in Sunderland,Calvert County, Maryland. All Saint's Parish was one of the thirty original Anglican parishes created in 1692 to encompass the Province of Maryland. In 1693 its first parish church, a log structure, was built on an acre of land called Kemp's Desire donated by Thomas Hillary. This log church was expanded in 1703-1704 and repaired at least 4 times before being replaced on top of the hill between MD routes 4, 262, and 2 by the present brick building.

Built between 1774 and 1777, the present church building is a Georgian structure of Flemish bond brick with random glazed headers. Since All Saint's Parish was part of the established church of the Province of Maryland, the published volumes of the Archives of Maryland contain pertinent documented source material on the building showing that it was built with county taxes while future bishop Thomas Claggett served as its rector.

All Saints' Day

All Saints' Day, also known as All Hallows, Day of All the Saints,Solemnity of All Saints, or Feast of All Saints is a festival celebrated on 1 November by the Latin Church of the Roman Catholic Church and some other Western Christian traditions, and on the first Sunday after Pentecost in Eastern Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy, in honour of all the saints, known and unknown. The liturgical celebration begins at Vespers on the evening of 31 October and ends at the close of 1 November. It is thus the day before All Souls' Day.

Hallowmas is another term for the feast and was used by Shakespeare in this sense. However, a few recent writers have applied this term to the three days from 31 October to 2 November inclusive, as a synonym for the triduum of Hallowtide.

In Catholic theology, the day commemorates all those who have attained the beatific vision in Heaven. It is a national holiday in many historically Catholic countries. In the Catholic Church and many Anglican churches, the next day specifically commemorates the departed faithful who have not yet been purified and reached Heaven. Christians who celebrate All Saints' Day and All Souls' Day do so in the fundamental belief that there is a prayerful spiritual bond between those in heaven (the "Church triumphant"), and the living (the "Church militant"). Other Christian traditions define, remember and respond to the saints in different ways; for example, in the Bible and the Methodist Church, the word "saints" refers to all Christians and therefore, on All Saints' Day, the Church Universal, as well as the deceased members of a local congregation, are honored and remembered.

All Saints (group)

All Saints are an English-Canadian girl group. Originally founded in 1993 as All Saints 1.9.7.5., the group was re-founded in 1995 as a quartet consisting of English members Melanie Blatt and Shaznay Lewis, and Canadian sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton. They became one of the most successful pop groups of the 1990s, with nine top ten singles on the UK Singles Chart (including five number-ones), two multi-platinum albums and two gold albums. By 2002, the band had sold in excess of 11 million albums worldwide.

All Saints were formed as a trio in 1993 with Blatt, Lewis and Simone Rainford, who released two singles before Rainford's departure in 1995. Natalie and Nicole Appleton joined the group for the production of their debut album, All Saints (1997), which produced three UK number-one singles, including "Never Ever" which won the Brit Awards for Best British Single and Best British Video at the 1998 Brit Awards. As of March 2013 it is the second best selling single by a girl group of all time in the UK, only behind "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls.
