The Young and the Restless is an American television soap opera. It was first broadcast on March 26, 1973, and airs on CBS. The following is a list of characters that first appeared in 2012, by order of appearance. All characters that appeared before August 2012 were introduced by the show's former head writer and executive producer Maria Arena Bell. Beyond that point, all characters are introduced by Bell's replacements: executive producer Jill Farren Phelps and head writer Josh Griffith.Anita Lawson and Sarge Wilder. Carmine Basco first appeared in March, while April saw the birth of Johnny Abbott on-screen. Beth Hortense debuted in June with Sister Celeste beginning her short stint in August. Jamie Vernon first appeared in October, while Alex Chavez and Mason Wilder were introduced in December.

Anita Lawson

Anita Lawson first appeared on February 7, 2012, as the mother of Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan). Casting for the role was announced on January 6, 2012. She is portrayed by former The Dukes of Hazzard actress Catherine Bach on a recurring basis. Entertainment Weekly reported that Anita is "the scheming mother of Chelsea". The character of Anita first aired on February 7, 2012. She began taping for the role on January 9, 2012. The official site provided a teaser for Anita's storyline: "Bringing more drama to the already testy situation between Billy, Victoria and Chelsea's surprise pregnancy, Bach will play Anita and join her daughter on a quest to conspire against Billy Abbott."

Riddick Bowe Boxing

Riddick Bowe Boxing (リディック･ボウ ボクシング, Boxing Ridikku Bou) is a multiplatform boxing video game released in 1993. It was also released for the Nintendo Game Boy and Sega Game Gear consoles. The game is virtually identical to Evander Holyfield's "Real Deal" Boxing, apart from the fighters included and the style of the graphics.

The game was released in Mexico and, partially, in American Southwest states as Chavez and starred Julio César Chávez instead of Riddick Bowe. It was identical except for the fact that the Spanish language is used instead of English.

Overview

Riddick Bowe Boxing features gameplay that was practically identical to that featured in Evander Holyfield's "Real Deal" Boxing. The graphics are similar in function; however, they have been completely redrawn in a more cartoon-like style. As in Evander Holyfield's "Real Deal" Boxing, the visuals of a fight are made up of 2D sprite-based boxers and a simple 3D boxing ring. A small overhead map of the ring featuring both fighters' positions is also visible during fights. The game features a career mode in which the player fights their way through all the boxers in the game until facing Bowe himself. The game also features an exhibition mode in which players can play as any boxer and put them in matches against any boxer in the game.

Boxing Legends of the Ring

Boxing Legends of the Ring (known in Japan as ファイナルノックアウト (Final Knockout)) is a boxing video game for the Mega Drive/Genesis and Super NES consoles. The boxers are represented by 2D sprites seen from over the shoulder of one of the fighters. The title of the game refers to the famous boxing magazine, The Ring, which the game is licensed to associate itself with. The following famous middleweight boxers are represented in the game: Sugar Ray Leonard, Roberto Durán, Thomas Hearns, James Toney, Marvin Hagler, Jake LaMotta, Sugar Ray Robinson, and Rocky Graziano.

All of the fights in the game take place in the Las Vegas Hilton casino in the North American version. There are also advertising banners for HBO visible during fights that are not available in the Japanese version. In the Japanese version, the game takes place in a generic boxing ring using the publisher's name in place of the HBO advertisements found in the North American version. Even in the Japanese version, the options are mostly in English.

Alexandra (Nikita character)

Alexandra "Alex" Udinov is one of the main characters on the television series Nikita, portrayed by Lyndsy Fonseca. Many fans of "Team Nikita" (consisting of Nikita, Michael, Birkhoff, Sean, Ryan, and Owen) consider Alex as the baby of the "family," this is because Alex, being the youngest of the group, when her walls are down, can behave childlike and callow.

Background

Alex is the daughter of the late Russian oligarch Nikolai Udinov and his wife who were murdered by Division, on orders of Sergei Semak, when Alex was a child. Udinov owned the billion-dollar company Zetrov, of which Alex was the sole heir. Alex was to inherit the Zetrov company, which flashbacks show her as never really wanting in the first place. She was saved by Nikita, after Nikita killed her father, as she watched the rest of her family perish in a fire. Nikita was powerless to save Alex from anything else as she had to return to Division, and she gave Alex to one of Udinov's associates for safe-keeping. Instead, Alex was sold into sex slavery by her father's associate since he needed money and thought no one would recognize her if he did.

Coronation Street is a British soap opera, produced by ITV Studios. Created by writer Tony Warren, Coronation Street was first broadcast on ITV on 9 December 1960. It has been produced by Phil Collinson since 2010. The following is a list of characters introduced by Collinson in the show's fifty-first year, by order of first appearance. January saw three introductions; DC Moore (Pooja Shah), Marc Selby (Andrew Hall) and Frank Foster, played by former The Bill actor Andrew Lancel. Faye Butler (Ellie Leach), Jeff Cullen (Steven Houghton) and the soap's first Chinese character, Xin Chiang (Elizabeth Tan) arrived in February. Veteran actress Stephanie Cole joined as Sylvia Goodwin, the mother of established character Roy Cropper, in April.

June saw a new family take over the running of the Rovers Return for the first time as former EastEnders actress Michelle Collins and Taggart actor John Michie took on the roles of Stella Price and Karl Munro respectively. The couple were also joined by Stella's daughter Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley). Beth Tinker (Lisa George) and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) arrived in August and Frank's parents, Anne (Gwen Taylor) and Sam Foster (Paul Clayton) made their first appearances in September, along with Kirsty Soames (Natalie Gumede). Lesley Kershaw (Judy Holt) followed in October and Jeremy Sheffield began appearing as Danny Stratton in December. That same month saw the birth of Joseph Brown, the only child to be born that year.

Alex (parrot)

Alex (1976 – September 6, 2007) was an African grey parrot and the subject of a thirty-year (1977–2007) experiment by animal psychologist Irene Pepperberg, initially at the University of Arizona and later at Harvard University and Brandeis University.

When Alex was about one year old, Pepperberg bought him at a pet shop. The name "Alex" was an acronym for avian language experiment, but Pepperberg later cited the name as meaning avian learning experiment to evoke further acceptance in her research field, a then-touchy topic (explained in her book, Alex & Me).

Before Pepperberg's work with Alex, it was widely believed in the scientific community that a large primate brain was needed to handle complex problems related to language and understanding; birds were not considered to be intelligent as their only common use of communication was of mimicking and the repetition of sounds to interact with each other. However, Alex's accomplishments supported the idea that birds may be able to reason on a basic level and use words creatively. Pepperberg wrote that Alex's intelligence was on a par with that of dolphins and great apes. She also reported that Alex seemed to show the intelligence of a five-year-old human, in some respects, and had not even reached his full potential by the time he died. She said that the bird had the emotional level of a human two-year-old at the time of his death.
