Alex Blake (born Alejandro Blake Fearon, Jr.) is a post-bop jazz double-bassist and electric bass guitarist.

Biography

Blake was born in Panama and moved to the United States at the age of 7, growing up in Brooklyn, NY. He began his career with Sun Ra in his band Arkestra. He became one of the major proponents of the fusion movement in the late 1970s with his writing and performances with Lenny White and Billy Cobham.

A live performance compilation was released by Bubble Core Records in 2000 titled Now Is the Time: Live at the Knitting Factory. The album featured Blake's own quintet, which included Pharoah Sanders, Victor Jones, John Hicks and Neil Clarke (percussion).

In addition to leading his own group, Blake also performs and records with Randy Weston, as well as other musicians.

Alex Blake (cricketer)

Alexander James Blake (born 25 January 1989 in Farnborough) is an English cricketer. He currently plays for Kent. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler.

A student of the Kent Academy, Blake was called up to make his one-day debut against Surrey in September 2007. Batting at number 9, he made 11 not out out of a total of 159. He also made four Under-19 ODI appearances for England, averaging 12.75.

Blake made his first-class debut in Kent's tour match against the touring New Zealanders in April 2008.

He played for Beckenham in the Kent League.

Alex Blake (Criminal Minds)

Alex Blake (née Miller) is a fictional character on the CBS crime drama Criminal Minds, portrayed by Jeanne Tripplehorn. Blake first appeared in "The Silencer" - episode one of season eight, replacing Agent Emily Prentiss who had resigned to go and run Interpol in "Run (Part II)".

On May 14, 2014, it was revealed in the season 9 finale that Blake would be leaving the show. Tripplehorn's final episode as a main cast member on the show was on the May 14, 2014 episode "Demons".

Background

Blake's appointment at the BAU was met with some mixed reactions as the team was close to Prentiss. Blake joined the BAU to restore her reputation after Blake was blamed for arresting the wrong suspect in the Amerithrax case and Section Chief Erin Strauss let her take the fall. As a result, she and Strauss do not get along, with Strauss accusing her of joining for selfish reasons, but they eventually make amends. The rest of the team recognize her expertise and are generally less antagonistic towards her.
