Al Romano

Al Romano (born April 14, 1954) is a former American football defensive tackle who played two seasons in the Canadian Football League with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Toronto Argonauts. He was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the eleventh round of the 1977 NFL Draft. Romano played college football at the University of Pittsburgh and attended Solvay High School in Solvay, New York. He was a consensus All-American in 1976.

Chantiers aéronavals Étienne Romano

The S.A. des Chantiers aéronavals Étienne Romano (CAER) was an aircraft manufacturing company based in Cannes, France. The predecessor company, Chantiers aéronavals de la Méditerranée had been founded by Étienne Romano in 1921.

History

André Auniac and Étienne Romano founded the SA des Chantiers aéronavals Étienne Romano on 16 August 1929. The factory was ideally located between the Mediterranean Sea and a flat expanse of grassland where the planes could take-off and land. That field would become later Cannes – Mandelieu Airport. In 1931 the Romano factory became operational and full production started.

On 11 August 1936 the Romano company was nationalized following which in 1937 it was merged with Lioré et Olivier, Potez, CAMS and SPCA in order to form the Société nationale des constructions aéronautiques du Sud-Est (SNCASE) on 1 February 1937.

Romano cheese

Romano cheese is an American and Canadian term for a class of cheeses. In spite of the name, it should not be confused with genuine Pecorino Romano which is a typical Italian product recognized and protected by the laws of the European Community, a hard, salty cheese, suitable primarily for grating, from which the name is derived.

Per U.S. Food and Drug Administration regulations, Romano cheese can be made from cow, goat, and/or sheep's milk and must be aged at least five months. Dry milk and water can be added. Milk can be bleached with benzoyl peroxide or a mixture of benzoyl peroxide with potassium alum, calcium sulfate, and magnesium carbonate. Safe artificial coloring may be added.Rennet does not need to be used and any "suitable milk-clotting enzyme that produces equivalent curd formation" suffices.

Romano cheeses are often grated over pasta, as substitutes for Parmesan.
