Al-Nahda

Al-Nahda (Arabic: النهضة‎ / ALA-LC: an-Nahḍah; Arabic for "awakening" or "renaissance") was a cultural renaissance that began in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Egypt, then later moving to Ottoman-ruled Arabic-speaking regions including Lebanon, Syria and others. It is often regarded as a period of intellectual modernization and reform.

In traditional scholarship, the Nahda is seen as connected to the cultural shock brought on by Napoleon's invasion of Egypt in 1798, and the reformist drive of subsequent rulers such as Muhammad Ali. However, recent scholarship has shown that the Middle Eastern and North African Renaissance was a cultural reform program that was as "autogenetic" as it was Western inspired, linked to the Ottoman Tanzimat and internal changes in political economy and communal reformations in Egypt and Syro-Lebanon.

The Egyptian nahda was articulated in |purely Egyptian terms, and its participants were mostly Egyptians, and Cairo was the geographical center of the movement. But al-Nahda was also felt in neighboring Arab capitals, notably Beirut and Damascus. The shared language of Arabic-speaking nations ensured that the accomplishments of the movement could be quickly picked up by intellectuals in Arab countries.

Al-Nahda Club (Saudi Arabia)

Al Nahda is a Saudi football club from Al-Khobar, Dammam.

In the 2007-2008 season, under the lead of the Croatian coach Dragan Talajić, Al Nahda played the finals of the Prince Faisal Cup, being the first team from the Saudi Second League to play the in the final.

Al-Nahda Club

Al-Nahda Club (Arabic: نادي النهضة‎; also known locally as Al-Aneed, or "The Tenacious", or just plainly as Al-Nahda) is an Omani sports club based in Al-Buraimi, Oman. The club is currently playing in the Oman Professional League, top division of Oman Football Association. Their home ground is Al-Buraimi Sports Complex. The stadium is government owned, but they also own their own personal stadium and sports equipment, as well as their own training facilities.

History

The club has only a brief history and was founded in 2003. They have had a considerable amount of achievements including qualifying for the 2008 AFC Cup and reaching the semifinals. The club name literally translates from "The Renaissance" in the Arabic language.

In 2010, Al-Nahda appointed former Poland international manager, Janusz Wójcik as their manager.

Being a multisport club

Although being mainly known for their football, Al-Nahda Club like many other clubs in Oman, have not only football in their list, but also hockey, volleyball, handball, basketball, badminton and squash.They also have a youth football team competing in the Omani Youth league.
