Ajinkya Deo is a noted actor in Marathi films and is the son of veteran Marathi actor Ramesh Deo & Seema Deo. He is elder brother of Hindi film director Abhinay Deo. "Vasudev Balawant Phadke" was the latest Marathi film in which he was the lead. Film was released in December 2007.
Ajinkya Dev is also the Executive Director of Prabhat Entertainment TV channel. The channel, which is being beamed through THAICOM-3 is being financed partially by an NRI. Apart from Ajinkya the Board of directors of Prabhat Entertainment TV comprised Ravi Agrawal (chairman), Deepak Agrawal (managing director), Charuhas Satam (creative director), Anant Rangaswami (marketing director) and Anil Shetty (director). Channel was started in 2000 & closed in 2002.

According to the traditions of the tribe, Sankatra was their ancestor, and they point to the town of Zafarwal, as the seat of their original settlement.
Their ancestor is said to be a Mahaj, who came from an area they describe as "Saki Jungle", in North India. Of his five sons, Sohal, Kom, Deol, Aulakh and Deo, all of who gave their names to Jat tribes. According to another tradition, they are descended from Jagdeo, a Suryavanshi Rajput.
The Deo are distinct from the Deol clan of Jats, although both claim descent from a common ancestor. The majority of the Deo Jatt Clan worshipped Sakhi Sarwar, a Mystical Saint.
