Air guitar is a form of dance and movement in which the performer pretends to play an imaginary rock or heavy metal-style electric guitar, including riffs, solos, etc. Playing an air guitar usually consists of exaggerated strumming and picking motions and is often coupled with loud singing or lip-synching. Air guitar is generally used in the imaginary simulation of loud electric or acoustic guitar music.
Organized air guitar competitions are regularly held in many countries. The first on-off air guitar competitions were organized in the early 1980s in Sweden and in the United States. Since 1996 the annual Air Guitar World Championships have been a part of the Oulu Music Video Festival in Oulu, Finland, and the festival currently administers the Air Guitar World Championships Network of official national championship competitions. The idea of the contest was originally coined as a joke, meant only to be a side attraction for the music video festival, but has since become a major draw in its own right.
Air guitar is mimed guitar play.

"Air Guitar" is the debut single by English pop rock supergroup McBusted. It was written by Tom Fletcher, James Bourne, Matt Willis and Steve Robson, and produced by Robson and Jason Perry. The song was released on 23 November 2014 through Island Records as the lead single from the band's self-titled debut studio album, McBusted (2014).
The song's lyrics contain references to Beyoncé, Michael Jackson, Jimmy Page and Brian May. It debuted at number 12 on the UK Singles Chart.
In November 2013, it was announced that Busted's James Bourne and Matt Willis would come together with McFly and tour together as the supergroup "McBusted". Due to enormous success, it was reported that they could release new material together. During an interview on The Jonathan Ross Show in February 2014, Willis said: "We always said that we weren't going to say we were going to bring out music, because we didn't want to say that we were going to make music and it be terrible. But we went away, we did some writing and it wasn't terrible." In April, it was announced that McBusted would be releasing an album.
Paul Reid, formerly Paul Gary James Ridge, (born 4 September 1982), better known by the stage name Drapht, is an Australian hip hop artist from Perth. Drapht is a member of the Syllabolix (SBX) crew, a collective that includes fellow Perth-based hip hop artists such as Downsyde.
Drapht grew up in North Perth, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. His father, Gary Ridge, a jazz drummer introduced Drapht to music from a very young age—he first experienced hip hop at the age of eight. The name "Drapht" is based on a Western Australian Swan Brewery beer, Swan Draught; the company's logo was written on a watch that his father brought home when Drapht was 13 or 14.
Drapht attended Perth Modern School in Subiaco but was not involved in the school's music program. At school he became friends with Damien Allia (aka DJ Armee) who introduced him to hip hop via gigs at the Hyde Park Hotel.
Drapht became a vital part of Perth's hip hop crew, "Syllabolix", at the age of 17.
This involvement resulted in his first contributions being recorded and included on Hunter and Dazastah's 2000 debut album, Done DL, only months after he had started seriously writing.
Don't care too much 'bout destruction
Just care that my body won't function
Straight to the point, to the point, I'm vacant.
Whipping MCs like a pound of bacon.
Go crazy when I hear a cymbal.
High-hat or a souped-up tempo.
Backbeat, and Deliah?
Playing air guitar when the place shook over.
I'll play air guitar when the place shook over.
I'll play air guitar when the place shook over.
It's not hard to find confrontation.
When you've got a bad reputation.
I wanna' piece, a piece of the action.
'Cause I need my satisfaction.
When twelve o'clock comes around then.
I'll just be chasing a car down.
Can't you see my hair touch the celing?
I wanna' roll, time to go rolling.
I'll play air guitar when the place shook over.
Take me away to the place that's in your eyes.
It's not far away, just one step from paradise.
I played air guitar and the place shook over.
Take me away to the place that's in your eyes.
It's not far away, just one step from paradise.
I played air guitar and the place shook over.
I played air guitar and the place shook over.
