AirWave Wireless
Airwave Wireless, Inc. was founded in 2000 as an Wi-Fi hotspot provider, with venture capital from Idealab. In the wake of the dot-com bust they adopted a new business model, selling wireless network management software: the AirWave Management Platform, or AMP. Unlike most similar software, which typically supports one vendor's brand of access points, the AMP supported managing access points from many different vendors.
AirWave also provides a wireless visualization and planning tool, VisualRF and a rogue detection module RAPIDs.
In 2008 AirWave was acquired by Aruba Networks, Inc, who continued to sell the AMP software and use the AirWave Wireless brand.
