Aftershock (Allison Dillon) is a fictional character, a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character initially appears in the Spider-Girl series. She is the daughter of Max Dillon (also known as Electro) in the MC2 timeline.
Max Dillon fell in love with a young woman named Marilyn, who never married Max because of his criminal history as Electro, but did have a child with him. Their daughter Allison inherits her father's electrical abilities, and due to slight differences in the polarities of Max and Allison's electrical fields, the slightest physical contact with each other burns them.
Max returns to his criminal ways as Electro and is sent to prison, and Marilyn dies of cancer. Young Allison is placed in foster care, where she is bounced from one home to another. In her teens, Allison designs a costume very similar to her father's Electro costume. Furthermore, she decides to use her powers to be a criminal like her father. She tries to rob a jewelry store at a mall, but is stopped by Spider-Girl. Later, using the codename "Aftershock", Allison attempts to rob some armored cars, but again she was stopped by Spider-Girl. This caused Allison to harbor a vendetta against Spider-Girl.
An aftershock is a smaller earthquake that occurs after a previous large earthquake, in the same area of the main shock. If an aftershock is larger than the main shock, the aftershock is redesignated as the main shock and the original main shock is redesignated as a foreshock. Aftershocks are formed as the crust around the displaced fault plane adjusts to the effects of the main shock.
Most aftershocks are located over the full area of fault rupture and either occur along the fault plane itself or along other faults within the volume affected by the strain associated with the main shock. Typically, aftershocks are found up to a distance equal to the rupture length away from the fault plane.
The pattern of aftershocks helps confirm the size of area that slipped during the main shock. In the case of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and the 2008 Sichuan earthquake the aftershock distribution shows in both cases that the epicenter (where the rupture initiated) lies to one end of the final area of slip, implying strongly asymmetric rupture propagation.
A Giant Inverted Boomerang is a type of steel shuttle roller coaster manufactured by Vekoma. The ride is a larger, inverted version of Vekoma's popular Boomerang sit down roller coasters. As of February 2016, five installations of the model are operating, with another one in storage.
Giant Inverted Boomerangs were slated to open for the start of the 2001 season at three Six Flags parks, however, sudden errors and malfunctions occurred during testing and caused the openings to be delayed. The first to open was Déjà Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain on August 25, 2001. Déjà Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain has since been removed and relocated to Six Flags New England as Goliath. This was followed by the opening of a further two Giant Inverted Boomerangs named Déjà Vu on September 1, 2001, at Six Flags Over Georgia and on October 7, 2001, at Six Flags Great America. The opening of the fourth Giant Inverted Boomerang was delayed even more after the problems were discovered with the first three. Stunt Fall opened on August 8, 2002, at Parque Warner Madrid.
