The Aero L-39NG (Next Generation) is a turbofan-powered military trainer aircraft currently under development by Aero Vodochody. It is a successor of the Cold War era Aero L-39 Albatros. The L-39NG project is divided into two phases. First, L-39NG upgrade program contains an installation of FJ44-4M engine and optionally the L-39NG avionics to existing L-39 Albatros. The second phase represents newly built L-39NG aircraft with the possible use of components from the previous upgrade.
Aero Vodochody presented the L-39NG project at the Farnborough Airshow in July 2014. As of April 21, 2015, Draken International is offering the L-39NG upgrade program in a partnership with Aero Vodochody and Williams International and is responsible for the L-39NG upgrade for the American market. Other aircraft will be modernised by Aero in the Czech Republic.
The prototype first flew from Vodochody airport on 14 September 2015.
Prototype of the re-engined L-39 with FJ44-4M engine will be introduced in the Czech Republic in summer 2015 or in the end of 2015. The newly built L-39NG prototype is scheduled to be unveiled in 2016 with deliveries expected to begin in 2018.
.aero (derived from aeronautics) is a sponsored top-level domain (sTLD) used in the Domain Name System of the Internet. It is the first sponsored top-level domain based on a single industrial theme. The aero
domain is reserved for companies, organizations, associations, government agencies, and individuals in aerospace-related fields. It was created in 2002 and is operated by SITA. SITA created and operates the Dot Aero Council.
Two-letter codes under .aero
are reserved for airlines according to the IATA Airline Designators. While three-letter codes were initially reserved for airports (IATA airport code), they were released for registration by the larger aviation and aerospace community on December 1, 2008.
The aero
top-level domain was initially approved in 2001 for a 5-year term expiring December 17, 2006 as part of a proof-of-concept of new top-level domains. The agreement was extended in October 2006 for a six-month term until June 17, 2007, and continued to be renewed on a June–December six-month cycle through June 17, 2009. In 2009, SITA and ICANN completed a new 10-year sponsorship agreement for the operation of aero
