Aerie (album)

Aerie is the fifth album by American singer-songwriter John Denver. It debuted on the Billboard 200 album charts on December 4, 1971, hitting #75.

The song "The Eagle and the Hawk" was the title theme music to an ABC documentary of the same title starring both Denver and noted conservationist Morlan Nelson. This documentary is in storage at ABC, but it has not been repeated nor released by ABC. Denver's piloting skills in sail planes was shown.

Album

Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century, first as books of individual 78rpm records, then from 1948 as vinyl LP records played at 33 ¹⁄₃ rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though in the 21st century albums sales have mostly focused on compact disc (CD) and MP3 formats. The audio cassette was a format used in the late 1970s through to the 1990s alongside vinyl.

An album may be recorded in a recording studio (fixed or mobile), in a concert venue, at home, in the field, or a mix of places. Recording may take a few hours to several years to complete, usually in several takes with different parts recorded separately, and then brought or "mixed" together. Recordings that are done in one take without overdubbing are termed "live", even when done in a studio. Studios are built to absorb sound, eliminating reverberation, so as to assist in mixing different takes; other locations, such as concert venues and some "live rooms", allow for reverberation, which creates a "live" sound. The majority of studio recordings contain an abundance of editing, sound effects, voice adjustments, etc. With modern recording technology, musicians can be recorded in separate rooms or at separate times while listening to the other parts using headphones; with each part recorded as a separate track.

Baldur's Gate NPCs are non-player characters (NPCs) which interact with the player in the Baldur's Gate series of computer games. Many of these characters can interact with each other during the game, and some of these characters can also join the player's party.

The NPCs recruited become playable characters directly controlled by the player. The player can employ a maximum number of five NPC party members at any one time, requiring the player to find a balance between strong melee warriors, characters who wield divine magic, characters who wield arcane magic, and those who provide different types of auxiliary support, such as thieves.

Aerie (magazine)

Aerie is a literary magazine established in 1996 at the University of Hartford, though the journal has roots dating back to the early 1970s. Presently, it is run through a student board.

History

Aerie was preceded by a small literary magazine, The Hog River Review, that was started in 1972. Other campus publications included: From the Workshop, a product of Friday afternoon get-togethers; Explorations, composed exclusively of freshman literary accomplishments; and Conception, a creation of the English Department’s Honor’s Society, Sigma Tau Delta. When Aerie was started in 1996, it served as a venue for the English Department to publish pieces from the department’s annual writing contest. This new literary magazine was run exclusively by faculty.

Aerie did not exist in its current form until Volume 5 in 2001 when a student editorial board took the reins. The magazine then began accepting submissions from all undergraduate students.
