Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising

Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising, known in Japan as Game Boy Wars Advance 2 (ゲームボーイウォーズアドバンス2, Gēmu Bōi Wōzu Adobansu Tsū) is a turn-based tactics video game for the Game Boy Advance. It was developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 2003. It is the second game in the Advance Wars sub-series of Nintendo Wars, preceded by Advance Wars and followed by Advance Wars: Dual Strike.

Black Hole Rising is nearly identical to the previous game in terms of core gameplay; there was only a small change in overall graphical style and some small content additions. The storyline of this game continues from the previous game, Advance Wars. Black Hole has quickly recovered from its defeat in Cosmo Land, and has gathered forces to invade Macro Land under the command of Sturm, the same commander who led the invasion of Cosmo Land. The protagonists, the Allied Nations, cooperate once again to drive the Black Hole forces out of Macro Land once and for all.

As with the other games in the series, this game has been well-received, attaining aggregate scores of 89 on Metacritic and 90.16% on GameRankings. It also won the European Computer Trade Show's Best Handheld Game of the Year award in 2003.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin (titled Advance Wars: Dark Conflict in Europe and Australia) is a turn-based strategy video game for the Nintendo DS handheld game console. It is the fourth installment in the Advance Wars series (preceded by Advance Wars: Dual Strike) and was released in North America on January 21, 2008; in Europe on January 25, 2008; and in Australia on February 21, 2008. A Japanese release was announced under the title of Famicom Wars DS: Ushinawareta Hikari (ファミコンウォーズDS 失われた光), but was canceled after several delays. However, on October 30, 2013, it became available in Japan through Club Nintendo as a downloadable platinum status reward for the Nintendo 3DS system.

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin was intended to have a darker atmosphere and more serious tone in contrast to the previous installments in the series, and features a new storyline independent of the previous games. Set amidst a post-apocalyptic world, the story focuses on the Rubinelle 12th Battalion, one of the surviving remnants of the military of the country of Rubinelle, which had been locked in a century-long war with its rival, Lazuria, prior to a devastating global meteor shower. In the aftermath, the Battalion devotes itself to saving any other survivors of the disaster, despite the shattered nations renewing their war against each other and an uncurable disease ravaging both sides. Meanwhile, a mysterious faction with unknown motives takes advantage of the destruction and pushes both sides deeper into conflict from behind the scenes.

Advance Wars: Dual Strike

Advance Wars: Dual Strike, known in Japan as Famicom Wars DS (ファミコンウォーズDS, Famikon Wōzu Dī Esu), is a turn-based tactics video game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld game console. It is the third installment in the Advance Wars series (first on DS media) and was released in Japan on June 23, 2005, in North America on August 22, 2005, in Europe on September 30, 2005, and in Australia on March 22, 2006. The game is preceded by Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising and Advance Wars and succeeded by Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Advance Wars is the international title of the Wars video game series, which dates back to the Family Computer game Famicom Wars in 1988.

The storyline is a continuation of the previous series and is set in the new location of Omega Land. Black Hole has returned under the leadership of a new commander who seeks to give himself eternal life by draining the energy of Omega Land. The Allied Nations struggle to overcome this threat and are eventually joined by several former Black Hole commanding officers in an effort to save the land.
