Abraham Lent (September 11, 1789 – March 4, 1873) was a land surveyor and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Shelburne County in the Legislative Assembly of Nova Scotia from 1818 to 1820 and from 1833 to 1836.
Born in Tusket, Nova Scotia, he was the son of James Lent, a loyalist of Dutch descent who came to Tusket from New York state in 1784, and Breechje Schmitt. Lent served as the local collector of customs. He married Mary Hatfield. Lent was also a justice of the peace and a colonel in the militia.
His home in Tusket, originally built by his uncle, who was also named Abraham Lent, and later used as a customs house, has been recognized as a heritage property by the province of Nova Scotia.
Abraham Lent (February 12, 1815 New York City – November 23, 1882) was an American politician from New York.
He was the son of Peter Waldron Lent (born 1786) and Catherine S. (Forbes) Lent. He studied law for a time, but abandoned this, and became a merchant instead. On July 11, 1836, he married Susan Cooper (1816–1881), and they had two children. In 1850, he became a partner in a clothing manufacturing company.
He was a member of the Board of Councilmen (6th D.) in 1859, 1860, 1861, 1862 and 1865.
He was a member of the New York State Senate (6th D.) in 1866 and 1867.
Abraham is a saint of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church. His feast day is celebrated May 5.
Sapor of Bet-Nicator (also known as Shapur of Bet-Nicator) was the Christian bishop of Bet-Nicator.
He was reported with 4 companions to King Shapur II, on the basis of their having preached against the Zoroastrian religion. After being subjected to prolonged torture, Bishop Sapor died in prison on November 20, 339.
His companions in martyrdom included Abraham.

Of all the names of the Old Testament used in the liturgies of the Roman Rite, a special prominence accrues to those of Abel, Melchisedech, and Abraham through their association with the idea of sacrifice and their employment in this connection in the most solemn part of the Canon of the Mass. Abraham's name occurs so often and in such a variety of connections as to give him, among Old Testament figures, a position of eminence in the liturgy, perhaps surpassed by David alone.
