Above the Ruins were an English Post-punk band fronted by Tony Wakeford.
After being asked to leave Death In June in 1984 due to his then membership in the British National Front, Tony Wakeford formed Above the Ruins. None of the group's releases name any of its members. Wakeford never said which other persons were involved in the group.
Above the Ruins released one mini album, entitled Songs of the Wolf. The album's sound was similar to the dark post-punk of early Death In June. The group also contributed a track to the British National Front benefit album No Surrender Vol 1 alongside the neo-Nazi/White power skinhead groups Skrewdriver and Brutal Attack. The lyrics were dedicated to subjects like patriotism, anti-Marxism, anti-egalitarianism and anti-multiculturalism, articulated explicitly in the song "Progress".
The political affiliations and content of Above the Ruins led to on-going criticism of Wakeford's musical output. Wakeford formed Sol Invictus shortly after this project was abandoned. In 2007, he stated that he has had no connection or interest in such ideas for 20 or more years.
Ruins are the remains of man-made architecture.

The Ruins is the second novel by American author Scott Smith, whose first novel was A Simple Plan. The Ruins is a horror story set on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. It was released on July 18, 2006 (ISBN 1-4000-4387-5).
A film adaptation of the novel was released in the United States and Canada on April 4, 2008.
Four American tourists — Eric, his girlfriend Stacy, her best friend Amy, and Amy's boyfriend Jeff, a medical student — are vacationing in Mexico. They befriend a German tourist named Mathias and a trio of hard-drinking Greeks who go by the Spanish nicknames Pablo, Juan, and Don Quixote. Mathias convinces "Pablo" (his name is actually Demetris Lambrakis) and the Americans to accompany him as he joins up with his brother Heinrich who had followed a girl he'd met to an archeological dig. The six of them head down to the rural Yucatan in search of Heinrich. The driver of the pick up truck who takes them to the outskirts tells one of the girls that the place to which they are going is 'not good'; the girl doesn't quite get the message and leaves anyway, despite the driver's offer to take them to a different and new place. Near a Mayan village, they discover a disguised trail which leads to a large hill covered in vines and surrounded by bare earth. The group approach the hill, ignoring the warnings of a young boy who had followed them to the village. The boy soon returns with armed adults who force the group to stay on the vine-covered hill. Among the underbrush, they discover the body of Heinrich, already overgrown with vines.
The Ruins is a 2008 supernatural horror film directed by Carter Smith which stars Jonathan Tucker, Shawn Ashmore, Jena Malone, Laura Ramsey, and Bella Sana. Released in 2008, the American-Australian co-production is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Smith, who also wrote the screenplay.
Two young American couples (Jeff and Amy, and Eric and Stacy) enjoy their vacation in Mexico. They meet Mathias, a German tourist, who is looking for his brother Heinrich. His last known location is an archaeological dig at a remote Mayan ruin in the jungle. They are also joined by Dimitri, Mathias's friend. The group reaches the ruins of a Mayan temple, and are confronted by Mayan villagers with guns and bows. Mathias tries to explain their purpose, but but the villagers do not understand Spanish or English. When Amy accidentally touches some shrubbery growing on the ruin, the villagers become increasingly agitated. Dimitri approaches the villagers, hoping to appease them, but they shoot and kill him. The rest of the group flees up the steps of the ruins.
Ride - unleash our vengeance
The Hammers of decay are back again
To the bastards total death and endless pain
We reign - we reign in fire and there is a Hell to pay
No choice - the end is here for he who chose to stay
Hate within our eyes
Fire burns within our hearts
The flame that never dies
Ravaging your lies
For only havoc lefts behind
Above The Ruins We Ride
Blood - let the bloodshed rain in fields of carnage as
we let it spread
While the battle rages on, our victory is at hand
I will have revenge and I will seal your fate
You cry, no bullshit will save you from my hate
Hate within our eyes
Fire burns within our hearts
The flame that never dies
Ravaging your lies
For only havoc lefts behind
Above The Ruins We Ride
This is the ending, nothing will be saved
United by bloodshed and pride
Lives are grinded to dust
Across the mountain side we ride to everlasting doom
Above The Ruins of the fallen the ashes forever remain
Spreading the fire as we charge back again
Bringers of violence, we're the bringers of pain
Bodies lay broken as they're grinded to dust
No mercy - we sing as we plunge into war
Flames and mass graves can be seen from ashore
By blood and by Hammers we rule this land
The Hammers of decay are back again
No bullshit will save you from my hate
We reign - we reign in fire and there is a Hell to pay
No choice - the end is here for he who chose to stay
Hate within our eyes
Fire burns within our hearts
The flame that never dies
Ravaging your lies
For only havoc lefts behind
