Aaron Thomas (cricketer)

Aaron Courteney Thomas (born 6 May 1985) is a former English cricketer. Thomas is a right-handed batsman who plays primarily as a wicketkeeper. He was born at Edmonton, London.

Thomas made his debut in List-A cricket for the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board against Bedfordshire in the 2001 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy at Wardown Park, Luton, with the Board losing by 3 wickets. His second and final List-A appearance for the Board came in 1st round of the 2002 Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy against Oxfordshire at the Christ Church Ground, Oxford. This round of the competition was played in 2001, with the Board losing by 5 wickets. In his 2 List-A matches for the Board he batted in a single innings, scoring an unbeaten 7. Behind the stumps he took a single catch and made a single stumping.

Thomas made a single first-class appearance for Nottinghamshire against India in 2003. Not required to bat in the match, Thomas took a single catch behind the stumps.

In local cricket he currently represents the West Indian Cavaliers in the Nottinghamshire Cricket Board Premier League.

East Coast Rapist

The East Coast Rapist is a black male who has committed a number of rapes in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut and Rhode Island since 1997. Police have had DNA evidence from the first attacks, but had not matched the DNA in any criminal database. On March 4, 2011, police in Connecticut arrested 39-year-old trucker and New Haven resident Aaron H. Thomas after claiming to have matched his DNA to that of the rapist from a cigarette butt he discarded. Thomas is undergoing police questioning. On March 5, 2011, jailers reported that Thomas attempted to hang himself while in a jail cell.

The rapist's modus operandi is to trail the women he selects as victims to learn about their personal lives and then attack them under cover of night. He usually approaches the victim in an open area, talks to them briefly, and then forces them into a more secluded area to rape them. He has used handguns, knives, a screwdriver, and a broken bottle as weapons during the attacks. On four occasions, he attacked more than one victim in the same incident.

Aaron Thomas (American football)

Aaron Norman Thomas (born November 7, 1937), is a former American football tight end in the National Football League for the San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants from 1961 to 1970.

Thomas was born in Dierks, Arkansas, but moved in 1948 to Weed, California where he played high school football. He graduated from Weed High School in 1957, and was inducted into the school's inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.

Thomas played college football at Oregon State University and was drafted in the fourth round (47th overall) of the 1961 NFL Draft by the 49ers. He was also selected in the 16th round of the 1961 AFL Draft by the Dallas Texans. Thomas also played for the New York Giants (1962–1970) and was selected to the Pro Bowl following the 1964 season.

His son, Robb Thomas also played wide receiver in the NFL.

In the Hebrew Bible and the Quran, Aaron אַהֲרֹן (UK /ˈɛərən/, US /ˈærən/) was the older brother of Moses (Exodus 6:16-20, 7:7; Qur'an 28:34) and a prophet of God. Unlike Moses, who grew up in the Egyptian royal court, Aaron and his elder sister Miriam remained with their kinsmen in the eastern border-land of Egypt (Goshen). When Moses first confronted the Egyptian king about the Israelites, Aaron served as his brother's spokesman ("prophet") to Pharaoh. (Exodus 7:1) Part of the Law (Torah) that Moses received from God at Sinai granted Aaron the priesthood for himself and his male descendants, and he became the first High Priest of the Israelites. Various dates for his life have been proposed, ranging from approximately 1600 to 1200 BC. Aaron died before the Israelites crossed the Jordan river and he was buried on Mount Hor (Numbers 33:39; Deuteronomy 10:6 says he died and was buried at Moserah). Aaron is also mentioned in the New Testament of the Bible.

Aaron Scotus

Aaron Scotus, Irish abbot and musician, fl. late 10th century – 14 December 1052.

Background

Aaron was an Irish abbot and music theorist, the term Scotus at the time denoting Irish (person).

St. Martin's of Cologne

A Benedictine, Scotus was the abbot of St. Martin, Cologne, Germany in the year 1042. He pilgrimaged in his youth to Colonia to the Gaelic-Irish convent of St. Martin. He became abbot of the same in 1042. He was identified with Aaron, abbot of St. Pantaleon. Today historians reject this identification.

Work as a composer

It is believed that he first introduced the Gregorian evening service (nocturns) into Germany. He authored two historically important treaties: De utilitate cantus vocalis et de modo cantandi atque psallendi and De regulis tonorum et symphoniarum. The library of St. Martin, Cologne conserves his work Tractatum de utilitate cantus vocalis et de modo cantandi atque psallendi. He wrote three musical treatises, all of which have been lost.

Aaron died on December 14, 1052.
