A Foreign Affair II

A Foreign Affair 2 is double compilation album released by Danish rock band Gasolin' in 2002.

It contains the English album What a Lemon on the first disc and The Last Jim on the second disc. Between 1974 and 1978, Gasolin' released four albums with English lyrics in an attempt to break the international music market, but had little success.

The first album, released in the United States as Gasolin' , was renamed What a Lemon for the English market. The disparity is due to the band releasing a previous album in England named Gasolin' . All told, Gasolin' released three albums named Gasolin': Their first Danish album, their first British album and their first American album.

The Last Jim (1975) and What a Lemon (1976) are nearly identical to Stakkels Jim (1974) and Gas 5 (1975), respectively. On What a Lemon, "Good Time Charlie" was omitted and replaced by "Rabalderstraede" and "The Last Jim". "Rabalderstraede" is identical to the song "What a Lemon".

A Foreign Affair is made up of two albums made for the English speaking market in the seventies. Gasolin' was released in 1974, and Killin' Time in 1978. On cd number 1, there are two bonustracks, "I'm Only Asking" and "Don't Fall Asleep On The Subway", which have never been released before.

This is the original mix of Killin' Time mixed for the American marked in 1977, but never released.

A Foreign Affair

A Foreign Affair is a 1948 American romantic comedy film directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jean Arthur, Marlene Dietrich, and John Lund. The screenplay by Wilder, Charles Brackett, and Richard L. Breen is based on a story by David Shaw adapted by Robert Harari. The film is about a United States Army captain in occupied Berlin who is torn between an ex-Nazi cafe singer and the United States congresswoman investigating her. Though a comedy, there was a cynical, serious tone to the overall project.

Plot

In 1947, a United States congressional committee which includes prim Phoebe Frost of Iowa (Jean Arthur) arrives in post-World War II Berlin to visit the American troops stationed there. Phoebe hears rumors that cabaret torch singer Erika von Schlütow (Marlene Dietrich), suspected of being the former mistress of either Hermann Göring or Joseph Goebbels, is being protected by an unidentified American officer. She enlists Captain John Pringle (John Lund) to assist in her investigation, unaware he is Erika's current lover.

Foreign Affair (Frankie Laine album)

Foreign Affair is a 1958 album by Frankie Laine with the orchestra of Michel Legrand.High Fidelity commented that "Frankie Laine throbs his breathy way through an international potpourri in five languages — all marked with a heavy American accent." The album was followed by a second collaboration with Legrand the next year, Reunion in Rhythm.

Foreign Affair (Mike Oldfield song)

"Foreign Affair" is a song written by Maggie Reilly and Mike Oldfield, which first appeared on Oldfield's 1983 album Crises on Virgin Records.

The song was originally recorded during the Crises sessions between November 1982 and April 1983 at Oldfield's studio in Denham, Buckinghamshire. On "Foreign Affair", Oldfield plays a Fairlight CMI and Roland strings. Maggie Reilly provides vocals, and the co-producer, Simon Phillips plays Tama Drums and a shaker.

Oldfield performed the song on tour extensively in the 1980s. The song has since been featured on compilations such as The Platinum Collection, Collection, Elements Boxset and Elements – The Best of Mike Oldfield.

Sylver cover

In 2009 the Belgian vocal trance group Sylver covered "Foreign Affair" on their fifth album, Sacrifice. The song reached number three on the Belgian Singles Chart. The song was released in Germany on 20 November 2009, but only as a download.
