ASAP (band)

ASAP was a band created by guitarist and vocalist Adrian Smith of Iron Maiden fame. ASAP released an album in 1989 entitled Silver and Gold. A.S.A.P. stands for "Adrian Smith and Project", and the full name of the band is incorporated within the band logo, with each word written in tiny font underneath the corresponding letter in the abbreviation.

History

Adrian Smith formed the band in 1989 when Iron Maiden was taking a year break after spending almost a year on the road for the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son album tour in 1988. The band had its origin in Urchin, a band Smith fronted in the 1970s. Andy Barnett, Dave Colwell and Richard Young played with Smith in various incarnations of Urchin, which was disbanded in 1981 when Smith joined Iron Maiden.

Further foundations for the band were laid out in late 1985 when Iron Maiden were taking a break after their massive world tour in support of their album Powerslave. Bored with the lull in band's activity as they prepared to record a new album, Adrian Smith and Nicko McBrain started playing on their own to pass the time, and they soon formed a full band which included Colwell and Barnett. Along with some other musicians they knew, they went to play a one-off gig at London's Marquee Club under the name of "The Entire Population of Hackney". At the show, the band performed mostly original material, including the songs "Silver And Gold" (which would later become the title track of their only album, "Fighting Man", "School Days" and "When She's Gone" (all of which would later be recorded by ASAP and released as B-sides to its singles) at the show, as well as three songs that would later be recorded by Iron Maiden ("Juanita", "Reach Out" and "That Girl").

+/- (band)

+/-, or Plus/Minus, is an American indietronic band formed in 2001. The band makes use of both electronic and traditional instruments, and has sought to use electronics to recreate traditional indie rock song forms and instrumental structures. The group has released two albums on each of the American indie labels Teenbeat Records and Absolutely Kosher, and their track "All I do" was prominently featured in the soundtrack for the major film Wicker Park. The group has developed a devoted following in Japan and Taiwan, and has toured there frequently. Although many artists append bonus tracks onto the end of Japanese album releases to discourage purchasers from buying cheaper US import versions, the overseas versions of +/- albums are usually quite different from the US versions - tracklists can be rearranged, artwork with noticeable changes is used, and tracks from the US version can be replaced as well as augmented by bonus tracks.

!!! is a dance-punk band that formed in Sacramento, California, in 1996 by lead singer Nic Offer. Its name is most commonly pronounced "Chk Chk Chk" ([/tʃk.tʃk.tʃk/]). Members of !!! came from other local bands such as The Yah Mos, Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. They are currently based in New York City, Sacramento, and Portland, Oregon. The band's sixth full-length album, As If, was released in October 2015.

Background and history

!!! is an American band formed in the summer of 1995 by the merger of part of the group Black Liquorice and Popesmashers. After a successful joint tour, these two teams decided to mix the disco-funk with more aggressive sounds and integrate the hardcore singer Nic Offer from the The Yah Mos. The band's name was inspired by the subtitles of the movie The Gods Must Be Crazy, in which the clicking sounds of the Bushmens' Khoisan language were represented as "!". However, as the bandmembers themselves say, !!! is pronounced by repeating thrice any monosyllabic sound. "Chk Chk Chk" is the most common pronunciation, which the URL of their official website and the title of their Myspace page suggest is the preferred pronunciation.

ASAP (variety show)

ASAP (All-Star Sunday Afternoon Party) is the longest-running musical variety show in the Philippines shown on ABS-CBN. It is mainly presented by some of the country's top performers namely Martin Nievera, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Vina Morales, Gary Valenciano, Piolo Pascual, Toni Gonzaga, Bamboo and Sarah Geronimo. The show is also seen worldwide through the subscription-based global TV channel The Filipino Channel. The show has been shown every Sunday since its pilot episode on February 5, 1995 surpassing GMA Supershow's record of nearly two decades. ASAP is the first live entertainment program in the Philippines to be broadcast in true high-definition picture, the other being a sports program.

History

When "Sa Linggo nAPO Sila" became "'Sang Linggo nAPO Sila" to replace Eat Bulaga which left ABS-CBN to transfer to GMA Network, ASAP was conceptualized and launched in 1995 as a "concert party" on Sundays. Then, Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez, along with Ariel Rivera and Dayanara Torres were tapped as main hosts for the show. The cast of "Pare Ko" (Claudine Barretto, Victor Neri, Jolina Magdangal, Roselle Nava, Gio Alvarez, Jao Mapa, Nikka Valencia) became co-hosts for the show to attract the younger viewers. In 1996, the show celebrated its first anniversary and later top-caliber leading man Piolo Pascual joined the show. When Dayanarra Torres left the country, Charlene Gonzales took her place. Channel V’s Joey Mead also joined the show for a while. By 1998, regular guest Zsa Zsa Padilla became a regular host the following year. After Martin Nievera left, Richard Gomez took his place. In March 1999, Onemig Bondoc joined the group. The SOP hosts Vina Morales & Mo Twister also joined the show.

Advanced Systems Analysis Program

The Advanced Systems Analysis Program (ASAP) is optical engineering software used to simulate optical systems. ASAP can handle coherent as well as incoherent light sources. It is a non-sequential ray tracing tool which means that it can be used not only to analyze lens systems but also for stray light analysis. It uses a Gaussian beam approximation for analysis of coherent sources.

"ASAP" is a song by American hip hop recording artist T.I., released May 24, 2005, as the third single from his third album, Urban Legend (2004). Lyrically, T.I. demands respect as champion of southern rap and addresses his critics. The song was featured on the soundtrack to the 2005 video game, Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition. The official remix features guest verses from T.I's Pimp Squad Click cohorts, Big Kuntry King and Mac Boney. The song is considered a diss track towards Houston-based rapper, Lil Flip. It was certified Gold by the RIAA for selling over 500,000 copies in the United States of America

Music video

The music video follows a fictional story where T.I. is wanted by the police. He is seen rapping in front of different backgrounds and in his car. He ends up turning himself in and tells the P$C to take out the key witness. He is subsequently released from jail and flies away in a private jet. The video also feature's T.I.'s following single "Motivation", towards the end. American comedian Mike Epps and Mississippi-based rapper David Banner, make cameo appearances in the video.
