ACE Team

ACE Team is an independent entertainment software developer based in Santiago, Chile. ACE Team has licensed the Source engine to develop and distribute its debut game Zeno Clash. Most of the members of the team have experience working on PC games, the Xbox Live Arcade platform and game modifications for several titles.

History

ACE Team was created as a game modification (or mod) development group and its name comes from the initials of its founders; brothers Andres Bordeu, Carlos Bordeu, and Edmundo Bordeu.

In 1999, after Bordeu created the mod ZanZan for Doom II., ACE Team released its first official mod Batman DOOM for Doom II.

In early 2002, ACE Team released the only single-player mod created for Quake III named The Dark Conjunction. During 2002, ACE Team was created as a legal company and entity. During this year and 2003, ACE Team worked on a never released demo of a game named Zenozoik, using the Jupiter System formerly based on Lithtech. This demo was the predecessor and starting point for the creation of ACE Team's game Zeno Clash.

Ace (Ian Van Dahl album)

Ace is the debut studio album by the Belgian dance music act known as Ian Van Dahl, released in 2002. The album contains four songs that reached the top 20 of the UK singles chart: "Will I?" (#5); "Reason" (#8); "Try" (#15); and their biggest hit single, "Castles in the Sky", which reached #3 and spent seven weeks in the top 10 in the summer of 2001. This last song also reached the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S., where it peaked at #91. The album itself peaked at #7 in the UK, where it achieved Gold status after only four weeks. The album title was inspired by taking the first letters of the names of each member of the act; Annemie, Christophe and Eric.

Ace Motor Corporation

Ace Motor Corporation was a motorcycle manufacturer in operation continuously in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania between 1919 and 1924 and intermittently afterward until 1927. Essentially only one model of the large luxury four-cylinder motorcycle, with slight variations, was made from first to last.

Origin

Having sold Henderson Motorcycle to Ignaz Schwinn's Excelsior Motor Manufacturing & Supply Company, founder William G. Henderson continued to work there until 1919, when differences of opinion regarding the design direction of Henderson motorcycles led to his resignation from Excelsior.

In the fall of 1919, with the support of Max M. Sladkin of Haverford Cycle Co., Henderson started the Ace Motor Corporation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Ace motorcycle resembled the Henderson in general form, being a longitudinal four-cylinder motorcycle with chain drive, but Henderson had to be careful not to infringe any trademarks or patents that would have been owned by Excelsior at the time. Production began in 1920.

Tide (brand)

Tide (Alo, Vizir or Ace in some countries) is the brand-name of a laundry detergent manufactured by Procter & Gamble, first introduced in 1946.

Background

The household chore of doing the laundry began to change with the introduction of washing powders in the 1880s. These new laundry products originally were simply pulverized soap. New cleaning-product marketing successes, such as the 1890s introduction of the N. K. Fairbank Company's Gold Dust Washing Powder (which used a breakthrough hydrogenation process in its formulation), and Hudson's heavily advertised product, Rinso, proved that there was a ready market for better cleaning agents. Henkel & Cie's "self-activating" (or self bleaching) cleaner, Persil; (introduced in 1907); the early synthetic detergent, BASF's Fewa (introduced in 1932); and Procter & Gamble's 1933 totally synthetic creation, Dreft, (marketed for use on infant-wear)—all indicated significant advances in the laundry cleaning product market.

The detergent business was further revolutionized with the discovery of the alkylbenzene sulfonates, which, when combined with the use of chemical "builders", made machine washing with hard water possible. This presented Procter and Gamble with the opportunity to create a product such as Tide.

Team (band)

Team is a contemporary Slovak rock music band. They are most famous for a single from their third album which was called "Držím ti miesto", which was included in the soundtrack of the 2005 American film Hostel.

Team 4

Team 4 was a British architectural firm, established in 1963 by architecture graduates Su Brumwell, Wendy Cheesman, Norman Foster and Richard Rogers. Team 4 was dissolved in 1967.

The practice originally included Wendy Cheesman's sister Georgie Wolton (née Cheesman) who, as the only qualified architect of the group, allowed the practice to function. Georgie Cheeseman left after only a few months, leaving the remaining members to try and pass their professional exams while continuing to practice.

Rogers, Foster and Brumwell had first met while studying at Yale University. Rogers and Brumwell later married one another, as did Foster and Wendy Cheeseman.

Notable projects

One of the first projects for Team 4 was a commission from Su Brumwell’s parents, Marcus and Irene Brumwell, to build a new house in Feock, Cornwall, called Creek Vean. They sold a Piet Mondrian painting bought from the artist in the 1930s, to fund the new house. Marcus Brumwell was the founder of the Design Research Unit. Creek Vean took 3 years to construct and was completed in 1966. It became the first ever house to win a R.I.B.A. Award. Creek Vean is a listed building, having been listed Grade II in 1998, and subsequently upgraded to Grade II*. It is listed as "Creekvean and Attached Entrance Bridge and Walls to Road, Feock".

CKGM

CKGM is an English language Canadian radio station in Montreal. Formerly an affiliate of Team sports radio network, it was one of three stations to retain the sports format after the network folded in 2002. The station has an all-sports format since May 2001. It was previously known as The Team 990 until it switched to the TSN Radio branding as TSN Radio 990 in October 2011.

CKGM officially began broadcasting on 690 kHz, as a 50,000 watts clear-channel Class I-A station, on September 4, 2012. It changed its branding to TSN Radio 690, accordingly. Its nighttime signal covers most of the eastern half of North America, including three-fourths of Canada. Its transmitters are located near Mercier, while its studios are located on René Lévesque Boulevard East in Montreal.

CKGM is best known for having been a legendary and influential top 40 station in its heyday from 1970 to 1986.

Current programming

Local programming on the station includes Melnick in the Afternoon with Mitch Melnick, Off the Cuff with "Knuckles" Chris Nilan, The Montreal Forum, an all sports show and a forum for Montreal Canadiens fans with Tony Marinaro, and The Morning Show with Elliott Price, Rick Moffat and Shaun Starr. These shows mainly focus on Montreal Canadiens analysis, especially during hockey season, but also address all the major sports in North American. TSN Radio 690 airs in-depth coverage of the Montreal Canadiens, as the English language flagship broadcaster. It features lengthy pre and post-game coverage for each game.
