Alfred Leslie Rowse CH FRSL FBA FRHistS (4 December 1903 – 3 October 1997), known publicly as A. L. Rowse but to friends and family as Leslie, was a British author and historian from Cornwall, England, UK.
Rowse is best known for his work on Elizabethan England and his poetry about Cornwall. He was also a Shakespearean scholar and biographer.
Rowse was born at Tregonissey, near St Austell, Cornwall, the son of Richard Rowse, a china clay worker, and Annie (née Vanson). Despite his parents being poor and semi-illiterate, he won a place at St Austell County Grammar School (now Poltair School – which has named part of its curriculum the Rowse Pathway) and then a scholarship to Christ Church, Oxford in 1921. He was encouraged in his pursuit of an academic career by a fellow Cornish man of letters, Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch, of Polperro, who recognised his ability from an early age. Rowse endured doubting comments about his paternity, thus he paid particular attention to his mother's association with a local farmer and butcher from Polgooth, near St Austell, Frederick William May (1872–1953). Nonetheless any such frustrations were channelled into academia, which reaped him dividends later in life.

Ashli or Aşlı (Tatar: Ашлы; pronounced [ʌʃˈlɯ]) was a mysterious medieval Volga Bulgarian town. In Russian chronicles it is known as Oshel (Russian: Ошель).
Whereas archaeologic excavations prove that the city appeared as early as the 11th century, the Tatar legends and the Russian Tver Chronicle state that the city was founded by Alexander the Great. At its heyday Ashli was a major trade and political centre. In 1220 it was ruined and burned by the troops of Sviatoslav III of Vladimir. The Tver Chronicle is the only written source where Ashli is mentioned.
The downfall of the city is mentioned in the Tver Chronicle, the only written mention of the city. The prince of Vladimir Yuri Vsevolodovich sent the expedition to sack Ashli under his brother, Sviatoslav.
The Russians under prince Sviatoslav, his brother Yaroslav and voyevoda Yeremey Glebovich reached the city by the Volga on their boats. They landed to the east of the city at the flat bank of the Volga. The Rostovans formed the right flank, the Pereslavleans the left, the prince and the Muromeans stayed in the center. One regiment stayed to protect the boats. The Russians came across the forest and met the horseback Bulgars under their prince. Bulgars shot their arrows and retreated to the citadel.

Oh, I will be yours
I don't know what to do
I can't believe it's true that
You can make me feel this way
I see it in your eyes
It made me realize
There's something that I've got to say
Refrain:
I just wanna tell you that I'm sorry
For all the things I've done to make you worry
And all the time I cared for you from the bottom of my heart
Chorus:
I will be yours if you'll be mine
I will be there 'til the end of time
I will be with you until the day that I die
I'll be yours, I will be yours
I've been around the world
And seen a lot of girls
But no one can compare to you
It's really plain to see
That you belong to me
Cause you're the only one I need
Refrain
Chorus
I will be yours (2x)
Oh, I will be yours
Chorus
