95.5 K-Rock (call sign: 3CAT) is a commercial FM radio station based in Geelong, Australia. K-Rock operates a mainstream Top 40 rock-inclined playlist.

In 2015 the on-air line-up consists of "Buckle and Tom" (breakfast) (Josh Buckle & Tom Lewis), day jock (09:00 - 14:00), Stampsy (14:00 - 16:00) and "The Departure Lounge" (16:00 - 18:00 with Stampsy & Leigh).

K-Rock's football coverage mainly consists of Australian Football League matches involving the Geelong Football Club. Commentators include Anthony Mithen, Andrew Bews and Tom King.

K-Rock shares transmitter facilities with sister station Bay FM (along with 94.7 The Pulse and 96.3 Rhema FM) - broadcasting from a high-powered transmitter on top of Murradoc Hill on the Bellarine Peninsula. The licence area covers the Greater Geelong area, Werribee and Western Melbourne, The Golden Plains, and the Surfcoast. K-Rock also streams online via their website.

History

3GL

From 1930 to 1990, K-Rock was known as 3GL on the AM band, broadcasting first on 1400 kHz, then 1350 kHz and later 1341 kHz. Although based in Geelong, it was notable for being receivable over most of the Melbourne metropolitan area.

K-Rock

K-Rock is a common radio brand, generally carried by radio stations airing a modern rock format. CBS Radio has owned the K-Rock brand in the United States since 1986. Then known as Infinity Broadcasting, CBS acquired the K-Rock brand after purchasing noted Los Angeles rock station KROQ-FM, its callsign the origin of the "K-Rock" name. In Canada, the K-Rock trademark is held by Rogers Media, owner of CIKR-FM ("K-Rock 105.7") in Kingston, Ontario. Most other K-Rock stations in Canada are owned by Newcap Broadcasting.

CJXK-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting on 95.3 FM in Cold Lake, Alberta. Owned by Newcap Broadcasting, the station broadcasts a classic rock format branded as 95.3 K-Rock.

The station originally began broadcasting in 1979 on the frequency 1340 kHz (AM), until it received approval by the CRTC in 2003 to move to the FM dial, which officially happened in 2004.

CIJK-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 89.3 FM in Kentville, Nova Scotia owned by Newcap Radio. The station currently broadcasts an Active rock format branded as 89.3 K-Rock. The station is one of several new radio stations approved in 2007 for the Atlantic Provinces.

According to the June 16 edition of the Northeast Radio Watch, CIJK signed on the air on June 12, 2008 at 8:09 a.m. and changed to an updated format in July 2012.
