Seed

A seed is an embryonic plant enclosed in a protective outer covering known as the seed coat.

It is a characteristic of spermatophytes (gymnosperm and angiosperm plants) and the product of the ripened ovule which occurs after fertilization and some growth within the mother plant. The formation of the seed completes the process of reproduction in seed plants (started with the development of flowers and pollination), with the embryo developed from the zygote and the seed coat from the integuments of the ovule.

Seeds have been an important development in the reproduction and spread of gymnosperm and angiosperm plants, relative to more primitive plants such as ferns, mosses and liverworts, which do not have seeds and use other means to propagate themselves. This can be seen by the success of seed plants (both gymnosperms and angiosperms) in dominating biological niches on land, from forests to grasslands both in hot and cold climates.

The term "seed" also has a general meaning that antedates the above—anything that can be sown, e.g. "seed" potatoes, "seeds" of corn or sunflower "seeds". In the case of sunflower and corn "seeds", what is sown is the seed enclosed in a shell or husk, whereas the potato is a tuber.

Seeds (Brother Cane album)

Seeds is the second album by hard rock band Brother Cane, released July 4, 1995 on Virgin Records. It features one of the group's most popular singles, "And Fools Shine On", which charted at #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks and ranked #5 on the year-end Top Hot Album Rock Tracks list. That same year, "Fools Shine On" was featured on the Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers soundtrack. In addition, "Hung On a Rope", "20/20 Faith", and "Horses & Needles" were also featured in the film.

Reception

Brother Cane's sophomore effort was not reviewed by many significant publications. However, Allmusic gave Seeds a high rating, calling it "a slick, heavy recording that dares to oppose '90s punk rock with their own combination of classic '70s rock and '90s grunge."

  • Seeds (cellular automaton)

Seeds is a cellular automaton in the same family as the Game of Life, initially investigated by Brian Silverman and named by Mirek Wójtowicz. It consists of infinite two-dimensional grid of cells, each of which may be in one of two states: on or off. Each cell is considered to have eight neighbors (Moore neighborhood), as in Life. In each time step, a cell turns on or is "born" if it was off or "dead" but had exactly two neighbors that were on; all other cells turn off. Thus, in the notation describing the family of cellular automata containing Life, it is described by the rule B2/S.

In Game of Life terminology, a pattern in which all cells that were on turn off at each step is called a phoenix. All patterns in Seeds have this form. Even though all live cells are constantly dying, the small birth requirement of two cells means that nearly every pattern in Seeds explodes into a chaotic mess that grows to cover the entire universe. Thus, in Wolfram's classification of cellular automata, it is a Class III automaton, in which nearly all patterns evolve chaotically.

  • Winx Club

Winx Club is an Italian animated television series made in 2003 on 19 August directed, created and produced by Iginio Straffi and his company Rainbow S.r.l. in co-production with Rai Fiction. It is part of the larger Winx Club franchise. The series is the first Italian cartoon to be sold in the United States. It is also broadcast in over 130 countries worldwide, and is Straffi's most successful creation. In June 2014, it was announced an agreement with China Central Television for the construction of a theme park dedicated to Winx in Beijing.

According to Iginio Straffi's website, "Winx Club is an action and fantasy show combined with comedic elements. In the mystical dimension of Magix, three special schools educate modern fairies, ambitious witches, and supernatural warriors or specialists, and wizards from all over the magical universe."

    Plot

In the first season, Bloom, a teenager from Earth, discovers she has magical abilities when she saves Stella, a fairy princess. Stella persuades Bloom to enroll in Alfea, a school for fairies in the Magical Dimension. There, she meets roommate Flora and apartment mates Tecna and Musa; together they form the Winx. They encounter and befriend the boys from the Red Fountain school of Specialists. They also make enemies, mainly a trio of witches called the Trix. Together, the Winx go through many adventures and discover many secrets about Bloom's past while fighting their enemies and studying at Alfea. Their power in Season 1 is Winx.

    Folk music

Folk music includes both traditional music and the genre that evolved from it during the 20th century folk revival. The term originated in the 19th century but is often applied to music that is older than that. Some types of folk music are also called world music.

Traditional folk music has been defined in several ways: as music transmitted orally, or as music with unknown composers. It has been contrasted with commercial and classical styles. One meaning often given is that of old songs, with no known composers; another is music that has been transmitted and evolved by a process of oral transmission or performed by custom over a long period of time.

Starting in the mid-20th century a new form of popular folk music evolved from traditional folk music. This process and period is called the (second) folk revival and reached a zenith in the 1960s. This form of music is sometimes called contemporary folk music or folk revival music to distinguish it from earlier folk forms. Smaller similar revivals have occurred elsewhere in the world at other times, but the term folk music has typically not been applied to the new music created during those revivals. This type of folk music also includes fusion genres such as folk rock, folk metal, electric folk, and others. While contemporary folk music is a genre generally distinct from traditional folk music, in English it shares the same name, and it often shares the same performers and venues as traditional folk music. Even individual songs may be a blend of the two.

    Let's Chill

    by: Toni Estes

    Let's Chill
    Let's chill, let's chill
    From the first time
    I saw your face
Boy I knew I had to have you
I wanted to wrap you in
    My warm embrace
    Visions of your lovely face
All my love is for you
Whatever you want I will do
You're the only one I want in my life
For you I'll make that sacrifice, oh
    Let's chill
    Let's settle down
    That's what I wanna do
    Just me and you
    Let's chill
    Let's settle down
    That's what I wanna do
    Just me and you
    I'm so happy
To have you here standing right by my side
Is it a dream or reality?
    Is this a fantasy?
    Please don't wake me
All my love is for you
Whatever you want I will do
You're the only one I want in my life
For you I'll make that sacrifice, so
    Let's chill
    Let's settle down
    That's what I wanna do
    Just me and you
    Let's chill
    Let's settle down
    That's what I wanna do
    Just me and you
    Whoa...
    Let's chill
    Let's settle down
    That's what I wanna do
    Just me and you
    Let's chill
    Let's settle down
    That's what I wanna do
    Just me and you
    Forever and ever
    Ever and ever
