2Day FM

2DayFM (call sign: 2DAY) is a commercial FM radio station broadcasting in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on a frequency of 104.1 MHz, and is part of Southern Cross Austereo's Hit Network.

History

1980s

2Day FM was one of three radio stations (along with Triple M and Triple J) to be granted new FM broadcasting licenses in Sydney in 1980, and commenced broadcasting on 2 August of that year. The original owners were well known media personalities John Laws (30%), Mike Willesee (30%), Village (30%) and Graham Kennedy (10%). The station's original programming format was focused towards easy-listening music, but shifted to more pop and rock oriented programming since the late 1980s, with the later addition of Hip-Hop and dance music to their playlists.

Originally the studios were located on the second floor of the Sovereign Inn at 220 Pacific Highway, Crows Nest. The original equipment comprised BMX Pacific Recorder mixing consoles, and CEI cartridge machines.

The station was sold to the Lamb Family in February 1987, who sold it again to radio group Austereo in May 1989.

2day FM is an English language - commercial radio station in Fiji. The station broadcasts on the 95.4 frequency to the cities of Suva, Navua, Nausori, Labasa, Savusavu, Nadi, Denarau Island, Mamanuca Islands and Lautoka. The station also broadcasts on the 95.2 frequency to the towns of Coral Coast and Ba. The station broadcasts on 95.6 megahertz to the town of Tavua, and on 95.8 megahertz to Rakiraki and Nabouwalu.

It is operated by Fiji Broadcasting Corporation, the company which also owns FBC TV, Radio Fiji One, Radio Fiji Two, Bula FM, Gold FM (Fiji), and Mirchi FM in Fiji.

2day FM was launched on 31 December 2002. The station strives to educate, inspire and inform the youths while playing today’s hit music.

The music selection runs from 1999 until present. It plays a selection of RnB, hip-hop, rock, rap, pop, dance music and reggae. The station is a major supporter of local music in Fiji promoting up and coming local musicians and their work on our station and also holding numerous events promoting Homegrown Music.
