Davis Cup
The Davis Cup is the premier international team event in men's tennis. It is run by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and is contested annually between teams from competing countries in a knock-out format. It is described by the organisers as the "World Cup of Tennis", and the winners are referred to as the World Champion team. The competition began in 1900 as a challenge between Great Britain and the United States. By 2016, 130 nations entered teams into the competition. The most successful countries over the history of the tournament are the United States (winning 32 tournaments and finishing as runners-up 29 times) and Australia (winning 28 times, including four occasions with New Zealand as Australasia, and finishing as runners-up 19 times). The present champions are Great Britain who beat Belgium to win the title for the 10th time in 2015. It was Great Britain's first title in 79 years, and first in the open era. The win moved Great Britain to third on the all time winners list.
1972 Davis Cup
The 1972 Davis Cup was the 61st edition of the most important tournament between national teams in men's tennis. This year would mark the abolishment of the Challenge Round. The previous year's champion would now play in all matches, rather than advance directly to the Challenge Round. The winner of the Inter-Zonal Zone would be declared the champion. 56 teams would enter the competition, 34 in the Europe Zone, 11 in the Americas Zone, and 11 in the Eastern Zone.
The United States defeated Chile in the Americas Zone final, Australia defeated India in the Eastern Zone final, and Romania and Spain won the Europe Zones. In the Inter-Zonal Zone, the USA defeated Spain and Romania defeated Australia. The USA defeated Romania in the final, giving the US their 5th straight title. The final was played at the Club Sportiv Progresul in Bucharest, Romania, on 13–15 October.

2007 Davis Cup
The 2007 Davis Cup was the 96th edition of the Davis Cup, a national teams competition in men's tennis. Sixteen teams participated in the World Group and 123 took part in different regional groups. The final took place 30 November - 2 December at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland, Oregon, USA, with the United States defeating Russia 4-1 for their 32nd title.

2015 Davis Cup
The 2015 Davis Cup was the 104th edition of the Davis Cup, a tournament between national teams in men's tennis. It was sponsored by BNP Paribas. Great Britain won their tenth title (their first since 1936), with Andy Murray defeating David Goffin of Belgium on clay in the final match held at Flanders Expo located in Ghent on 29 November 2015.

Final
Belgium and Great Britain won through to the final by winning semi-final ties against Argentina and Australia respectively. This meant that Belgium would participate in their first Davis Cup final since 1904 (a 5–0 defeat against Great Britain), and Great Britain in their first since 1978. It also marked a remarkable recovery in fortunes for Great Britain, who had been in danger of relegation to the lowest division of the Davis Cup in 2010.
