Biography [link]

The band was founded by vocalist Manda Ophuis and guitar player Hendrik Jan de Jong in September 2002 in Groningen, The Netherlands. In April 2003 the band had their first performance as support act for After Forever, and remained that band's support for a year. They attracted record company interest and signed for small Dutch label Ebony Tears in November 2003. In November 2004 Nemesea released their debut album Mana (meaning 'the magical power of things, given by the gods'),[citation needed] and they later toured the Netherlands and Belgium until December 2005. By this time they were well established in the European gothic/symphonic metal scene. For their second album, Nemesea had talks with some major record labels, but they later decided to sign up to the Dutch crowdsourcing website Sellaband. They were the first band to raise more than $50,000 from the fans, and the album, called In Control, was released on June 21, 2007.[2][3] A distribution deal was made with Rough Trade Records to bring the new album to music stores in Benelux on October 26, 2007. Also the band signed a booking deal with Dutch agent AT Productions[4] and found a new manager in David Arden, brother of Sharon Osbourne and former manager of James Brown.

The live album Pure Live @ P3 was released on September 7, 2009.

In July 2010, the band announced they were recording a new studio album,[5] which they hope will be released in early 2011.[6] The new song "Caught in the Middle" was posted on Youtube,[7] and will appear on the new album. Other songs for the new album The Quiet Resistance are "The Quiet Resistance", "Stay With Me", "Afterlife", "Whenever", and "Rush".[citation needed]

Afterlife

by: Nemesea

Don't shut your eyes to me
I want to make you see
Our destiny, how it's supposed to be
And let the darkness fade
Find comfort in my shade
'Cos you're not alone, no you're not alone
Can we see, can we feel when we're in the afterlife
Do you know, how I know to believe in you
Because I do
Can we hope, can we love, can it be our destiny
'Cos I'm listening
Yes I'm listening
To you
Now don't you close your eyes
Stop telling me your lies
Don't live in fear, 'cos I won't disappear no
I hope you understand
I'll lend a helping hand
So come to me, 'cos I will set you free
Break the silence
Fill this emptiness
And hope for better days
Can we see, can we feel when we're in the afterlife
Do you know, how I know to believe in you
Because I do
Can we hope, can we love, can it be our destiny
'Cos I am listening
Yes I am listening
To you
Don't break me now
Don't tell me that it ends
Let us find another way to make amends
Don't hate me now
Don't turn the other way
