10 Cane

10 Cane is a premium Trinidadian light rum brand owned by LVMH.

Moët Hennessy developed 10 Cane and introduced it in 2005.

Name

10 Cane rum is named after the tradition of hand-harvesting and bundling sugarcane stalks in groups of ten.

Production

Like cachaca and French or Haitian “rhum agricole”, 10 Cane is made from fresh sugar cane juice and blended with aged molasses rum.

10 Cane production process is described by Moët Hennessy as "artisanal", that is, using a small batch production process and high ingredient quality standards. It is fermented for five days at a low temperature, double-distilled in small batches in French pot stills, then aged in French oak barrels for ten months. This aging process gives 10 Cane its light golden color. As of 2015, it appears that 10 Cane production has been discontinued. The website referenced (www.10cane.com) no longer functions.

Mixology

10 Cane is a pale gold, light bodied but full flavored rum with tasting notes of pear and vanilla. 10 Cane is often used to create smoother, more fragrant variations of traditional dark rum cocktails such as the Hurricane and the Dark 'N' Stormy.

Cane

Cane is any of various tall, perennial grasses with flexible, woody stalks, and more specifically from the genus Arundinaria.

Scientifically speaking, there are either of two genera from the family Poaceae. The genus Arundo is native from the Mediterranean Basin to the Far East. The genus Arundinaria is a bamboo (Bambuseae) found in the New World. Neither genus includes sugarcane (genus Saccharum, tribe Andropogoneae).

Cane commonly grows in large riparian stands known as canebrakes, found in toponyms throughout the Southern and Western United States; they are much like the tules (Schoenoplectus acutus) of California.

Depending on strength, cane can be fashioned for various purposes, including walking sticks, crutches, assistive canes or judicial or school canes. Where canes are used in corporal punishment, they must meet particular specifications, such as a high degree of flexibility. Cane historically has been used for many other purposes such as baskets, furniture, boats, roofs and wherever stiff, withy sticks can be put to good use.

Zoran Kostić (musician)

Zoran Kostić (Serbian Cyrillic: Зоран Костић; born August 17, 1964 in Belgrade) widely known by his nickname Cane (Serbian pronunciation: [tsanɛ]) is Serbian rock musician, known primarily as the leader and vocalist for Serbian punk rock group Partibrejkers.

Early years

Kostić was born in 1964 to parents Slobodan and Mirjana. Growing up near the Ušće area of New Belgrade, he founded his first band in 1979, at the age of 15 - a group called Kopilad (Bastards). In 1980, he played with Urbana Gerila for a short time, before joining Radnička kontrola in 1981, where he played alongside some also soon-to-become-notable musicians: drummer Srđan "Žika" Todorović, lead guitarist Darko Milojković and bassist Srđan "Đile" Marković. They recorded two tracks, "Dosada" ("Boredom") and "TV u koloru" ("Color TV"), both of which appeared on the various artist compilation Artistička radna akcija, released by Jugoton in 1981. This exposure led to a spot on the showcase concert at Belgrade's Tašmajdan stadium in September 1981 with a batch of other up-and-coming acts. Kostić incessantly provoked the crowd to a point where the show had to be interrupted. This got him some, mostly negative, publicity in the daily papers by prompting a discussion on the values and morals of Yugoslav youth.

Walking stick

A walking stick is a device used by many people to facilitate walking, for fashion, or for defensive reasons.

Walking sticks come in many shapes and sizes, and can be sought by collectors. Some kinds of walking stick may be used by people with disabilities as a crutch. The walking stick has also historically been known to be used as a defensive or offensive weapon, and may conceal a knife or sword as in a swordstick.

Walking sticks, also known as trekking poles, pilgrim's staffs, hiking poles or hiking sticks, are used by hikers for a wide variety of purposes: to clear spider webs, or part thick bushes or grass obscuring the trail; as a support when going uphill or a brake when going downhill; as a balance point when crossing streams, swamps or other rough terrain; to feel for obstacles in the path; to test mud and puddles for depth; and as a defence against wild animals. Also known as an alpenstock, from its origins in mountaineering in the Alps, such a walking stick is equipped with a steel point and a hook or pick on top, as famously used by Sherlock Holmes in his trek in "The Final Problem". A walking stick can be improvised from nearby felled wood. More ornate sticks are made for avid hikers, and are often adorned with small trinkets or medallions depicting "conquered" territory. Wood walking sticks are used for outdoor sports, healthy upper body exercise and even club, department and family memorials. They can be individually handcrafted from a number of woods, and may be personalised in many ways for the owner.
