.xxx (pronounced "dot triple-X" or "dot x x x") is a sponsored top-level domain (sTLD) intended as a voluntary option for pornographic sites on the Internet. The sponsoring organization is the International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR). The registry is operated by ICM Registry LLC. The ICANN Board voted to approve the sTLD on 18 March 2011. It went into operation on 15 April 2011.

The TLD entered its sunrise period on 7 September 2011 at 16:00 UTC; the sunrise period ended 28 October 2011. Landrush period lasted from 8 November through 25 November, and General Availability commenced on 6 December 2011.

Background

A gTLD (generic top-level domain) for sexually explicit material was proposed as one tool for dealing with the conflict between those who wish to provide and access such material through the Internet, and those who wish to prevent access to it, either by children and adolescents, or by employees at their workplaces.

Advocates of the idea argue that it will be easier for parents and employers to block the entire TLD, rather than using more complex and error-prone content-based filtering, without imposing any restrictions on those who wish to access it. Editors of explicit content sites, however, were afraid that the use of a single TLD like .xxx would also make it easier for search engines to block all of their content.

Heart 107.3 (call sign: 7XXX) is part of the Southern Cross Austereo network of Triple M Network radio stations, Based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia.

Station History

Heart 107.3 previously Magic 107, began as 7HT in 1990. The station had obtained an FM conversion license. Subsequently a consortium lead by Andrew Reimer and local Hobart businessman John Bender who obtained financial support, arranged to lease the FM license.

The station's first local breakfast host was Brett Marley, who had been the former drive host on 7HO FM. The line-up also included well known Melbourne announcer and Hey Hey It's Saturday announcer John Blackman as well as Alan Jones.

In 1998, management negotiated with the TOTE of Tasmania who held an unused FM license and launched a second FM to join Triple T. The new station, MAGIC 107, based upon market research, was targeted at 40- to 65-year-olds with a music format of the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s coupled with John Laws in the morning shift. This strategy was to complement Triple T's focus on an under 40 market. In the initial radio survey, MAGIC 107FM captured over one third of the Hobart radio listeners and dominated its target market.

XXX (L'Arc-en-Ciel song)

"X X X" (Kiss Kiss Kiss) is the thirty-ninth single by L'Arc-en-Ciel, released on October 12, 2011. The single debuted at number one on the Oricon chart and remained for over a week, selling 81,414 copies. The band had not reached the top of the Oricon chart since the release of "Drink It Down" in 2008.

This single also included the first of a new group of B-Sides, the L'Acoustic versions, after the earliest release, "Good Luck My Way", ended with the introduction of the alter-ego band P'unk-en-Ciel.

XXX (Jimmy Edgar album)

XXX is a studio album by techno producer Jimmy Edgar. Released in June 2010 by !K7 Records,Allmusic gave it 3.5/5 stars, describing the album as "smutty neo-electro."

Production and release

Edgar began producing XXX, his second solo album under his real name, around 2008. Edgar used more analog recording techniques than his previous releases, which had been in the genres of glitch and Detroit techno. Edgar also plays bass guitar on several tracks, and collaborates with several guest vocalists.

Originally titled Deeper,XXX was allegedly rejected by Warp Records in 2008, with Edgar leaving the label around that time.XXX came out June 2010 on K7 Records. It was released digitally on July 27, 2010, and on CD on September 14, 2010. Around the time of the release Edgar continued to tour internationally, notably in cities such as Tokyo, Zagreb, Istanbul, Athens, Tallinn, Moscow, Turin, London, and Berlin.

Reception

Andy Kellman of Allmusic gave XXX 3.5/5 stars, writing that Edgar's increased use of analog equipment in the recording process "refines his smutty neo-electro." Kellman further asserted the production "has a way of slightly rounding off the sharp edges of the producer's sound, placing him closer to the modern funk likes of Dâm-Funk than glitch."

XXX (2002 film)

xXx (pronounced "Triple X") is a 2002 American action film directed by Rob Cohen. It stars Vin Diesel as Xander Cage, a thrill seeking extreme sports enthusiast, stuntman and rebellious athlete-turned-reluctant spy for the National Security Agency who is sent on a dangerous mission to infiltrate a group of potential Russian terrorists in Central Europe. xXx also stars Asia Argento, Samuel L. Jackson, and Marton Csokas. Cohen previously directed The Fast and the Furious, in which Diesel also starred.

The film received mixed reviews but was a financial success for the studios, grossing US$277,448,382 worldwide. It was followed by a 2005 sequel entitled xXx: State of the Union.

Plot

An NSA mission to collect intel on Anarchy 99, a mercenary group made up of former Russian soldiers goes awry when the agent's identity is discovered by the group. NSA Agent Augustus Gibbons, overseeing the operation to get any intel on the group's plans for the biochemical weapon named "Silent Night" that has been missing since the fall of the Soviet Union, believes the only way to get close is to recruit an agent that would not have any ties to the United States government. He selects Xander Cage, also known as X, an extreme sports professional and host of his own television show who is outspoken against the government and was recently captured by the FBI for stealing and destroying a prominent California senator's car as an act of protest. Gibbons puts Cage through two tests - stopping a staged diner robbery, and escaping from a drug cartel's plantation in Colombia - and offers Cage the mission. Cage reluctantly agrees when Gibbons offers to wipe his criminal record away.
