Nail (album)

Nail is the fourth studio album by Scraping Foetus Off the Wheel. It was released in October 1985, through record labels Self Immolation and Some Bizzare.

Background

The album incorporates a variety of musical genres, including classical and industrial rock, and the lyrics are often esoteric. For example, the tempo and instrumentation in "Descent into the Inferno" is infrequent: the song's first half is sparse and percussive; in the latter stages the song gathers momentum and features synthesizers. "The Overture from Pigdom Come", a composition resembling a classical piece of music, is juxtaposed with perhaps the most brutal track on the album, "Private War", a track that features one minute of various grinding noises.

There are various obscure references within the songs, some more lucid than others. "The Throne of Agony" has the lyrics "Alas, poor Yorick, I knew me well", a paraphrase of a line from Shakespeare's Hamlet (Hamlet: "Alas, poor Yorick! I knew him, Horatio..."). The line "Turn on, tune in, drop out" in "DI-1-9026" refers to the Timothy Leary phrase. Jack and the Beanstalk is also referenced, with a variation of the chant "Fee, fie, foe, fum!" appearing in the final track.

Disk (mathematics)

In geometry, a disk (also spelled disc) is the region in a plane bounded by a circle. A disk is said to be closed or open according to whether it contains the circle that constitutes its boundary.

Properties

The disk has circular symmetry.

The open disk and the closed disk are not topologically equivalent (that is, they are not homeomorphic), as they have different topological properties from each other. For instance, every closed disk is compact whereas every open disk is not compact. However from the viewpoint of algebraic topology they share many properties: both of them are contractible and so are homotopy equivalent to a single point. This implies that their fundamental groups are trivial, and all homology groups are trivial except the 0th one, which is isomorphic to Z. The Euler characteristic of a point (and therefore also that of a closed or open disk) is 1.

Ogre (Dungeons & Dragons)

In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, ogres are a lesser race of giants. An aquatic subrace of ogres is known as "merrow". D&D ogres are also closely related to the race of ogre magi, a more intelligent race with blue skin and great magical abilities. Typically Ogres stand between nine and ten feet tall and can weigh up to 650 lbs. Ogres are closely related to trolls, and are distantly related to the various races of giants.

Ogres have a long history within the Dungeons & Dragons game.

Dungeons & Dragons (1974–1976)

The ogre was one of the first monsters introduced in the earliest edition of the game, in the Dungeons & Dragons "white box" set (1974). They are described simply as large and fearsome monsters.

Ogre variants appeared in Supplement IV: Gods, Demi-Gods & Heroes (1976).

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st edition (1977–1988)

The ogre appears in the first edition Monster Manual (1977), where they are described as ugly-tempered and voracious creatures sometimes found as mercenaries.

Ogre (video game)

Ogre is a 1986 computer game based on the Ogre miniatures wargame.

Release

A computer adaptation of Ogre was the 1986 release by Origin Systems, Inc. for Apple II, Amiga, Atari 8-bit, Atari ST, Commodore 64, DOS, and Macintosh.

Gameplay

The video game is based on the miniatures wargame rules.

Reception

inCider in 1986 rated the game with three stars out of four.Computer Gaming World rated it three stars out of five in a 1992 survey of science fiction games, and ranked it #130 in the magazine's 1996 list of 150 Best Games of All Time.

List of Home and Away characters (2010)

Home and Away is an Australian television soap opera. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that first appeared during 2010, by order of first appearance. They were all introduced by series producer Cameron Welsh. The 23rd season of Home and Away began airing from 25 January 2010. Two days later Mitzi Ruhlman made her debut as Rabbit. Mink Carpenter and Elijah Johnson arrived in February, while Justin Jefferies began appearing from March. Mink's mother, Jill, arrived in May. Christian Clark and Rhiannon Fish began portraying Penn Graham and April Scott from June. April's older sister, Bianca, made her debut in July, while Paolo Rosetta was introduced to the show in August. The following month Mitzy Fraser, Vittorio Seca, Daria Hennessy were introduced to the show.

Rabbit

Amber "Rabbit" Copeland, played Mitzi Ruhlman, made her first screen appearance on 27 January 2010. Rabbit was Ruhlman's first television role. The character was introduced to help bring "a little fun" back into Miles Copeland's (Josh Quong Tart) life. When asked how the idea for Rabbit came about, Tart revealed "I was very keen to get a bit more magic into the character of Miles. He came in with a great sense of magic and I think we wanted to capture that again." The actor explained that the concept of Miles having Rabbit in his life brings all sorts of questions about psychology and mental illness in the equation. He added that the storyline was something young children could enjoy because Rabbit is "feisty and mischievous" and there is an innocence to it all.

Killer (Swiss band)

Killer was a Swiss heavy metal group founded in 1979 and based in Solothurn. The founder and leader was guitarist Crown Kocher. The group disbanded in 2012.
