Časlav (Greek: Τσασλάβο, Serbian Cyrillic: Часлав ; c. 890s – 960) was Prince of the Serbs from c. 927 until his death in c. 960. He significantly expanded the Serbian Principality when he managed to unite several Slavic tribes, stretching his realm over the shores of the Adriatic Sea, the Sava river and the Morava valley. He successfully fought off the Magyars, who had crossed the Carpathians and ravaged Central Europe, when they invaded Bosnia. Časlav is remembered, alongside his predecessor Vlastimir, as founders of Serbia in the Middle Ages.
Časlav was the son of Klonimir, a son of Strojimir who ruled as co-prince in 851–880. He belongs to the first Serbian dynasty, the Vlastimirovićs (ruling since the early 7th century), and is the last known ruler of the family.
After the death of Prince Vlastimir, Serbia was ruled as an oligarchy by his three sons:Mutimir, Gojnik and Strojimir, although Mutimir, the eldest, had supreme rule.
In the 880s, Mutimir seized the throne, exiling his brothers and Klonimir, who was Strojimir's son, to the Bulgar Khanate; the court of Boris I of Bulgaria. This was most likely due to treachery. Petar, the son of Gojnik, was kept at the Serbian court of Mutimir for political reasons, but he soon fled to Croatia.
The Australian Light Armoured Vehicle (ASLAV), is an Australian light armoured vehicle designed and manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada. The vehicle is based on the MOWAG Piranha 8x8 design. It is a highly mobile, eight wheeled amphibious armoured vehicle used for reconnaissance and surveillance operations.
In 1990, a year-long evaluation was conducted by A Squadron 2nd Cavalry Regt on 15 light armoured vehicles leased from the United States Marine Corps. This was to see how wheeled vehicles would handle Australian conditions and what modifications would need to be made.
In 1992, under Phase 2 of ASLAV Program, the Australian Defence Materiel Organisation acquired 113 of the Australian version of the Canadian manufactured LAV for the Australian Army. By 1997 the 2nd Cavalry Regiment was fully equipped with the ASLAV.
Phase 3 of the ASLAV acquisition was approved with the follow-on purchase of 144 vehicles with increased levels of local content including the fabrication and assembly of turrets by General Dynamics Land Systems - Australia. The Wheeled Manoeuvre Systems Program Office of the Defence Materiel Organisation manages the ASLAV Phase 3 project, as well as the through-life support of in-service ASLAV assets.
Časlav is a Slavic given name, which has several spelling variants: Časlav (Cyrillic: Часлав) in Serbian, Čáslav or Čéslav in Czech, and Czasław or Czesław in Polish. In medieval Greek texts, the name is spelled as Τζασϑλάβος. The name consists of two elements, ča and slav. The element ča is a Slavic root meaning "to await" or "to look forward to", expressing the idea that the child is an eagerly awaited gift. The element slav is very common in Slavic anthroponyms. It comes from slava "glory", and has the sense of "good name" in the given names.
Notable people named Časlav:
I hear a voice say "Don't be so blind"
It's telling me all these things
That you would probably hide
Am I your one and only desire?
Am I the reason you breathe
Or am I the reason you cry?
Always, always, always
Always, always, always
I just can't live without you
I love you, I hate you
I can't get around you
I breathe you, I taste you
I can't live without you
I just can't take anymore
This life of solitude
I guess that I'm out the door
And now I'm done with you
I feel like you don't want me around
I guess I'll pack all my things
I guess I'll see you around
It's all been bottled up until now
As I walk out your door
All I can hear is the sound of
Always, always, always
Always, always, always
I just can't live without you
I love you, I hate you
I can't get around you
I breathe you, I taste you
I can't live without you
I just can't take anymore
This life of solitude
I guess that I'm out the door
And now I'm done with you
I love you, I hate you
I can't live without you
I left my head around your heart
Why would you tear my world apart?
Always, always, always, always
I see the blood all over your hands
Does it make you feel more like a man?
Was it all just a part of your plan?
The pistol's shakin' in my hands
And all I hear is the sound
I love you, I hate you
I can't live without you
I breathe you, I taste you
I can't live without you
I just can't take anymore
This life of solitude
I guess that I'm out the door
And now I'm done with you
I love you, I hate you
I can't live without you
I love you, I hate you
I can't live without you
I just can't take anymore
This life of solitude
I pick myself off the floor
And now I'm done with you
Always, always, always
