F (Los Angeles Railway)

F was a line operated by the Los Angeles Railway from 1911 to 1956.

History

Fourth Street Line (1898-1911)

The Fourth Street Line was originally built by the Los Angeles Traction Company and opened in 1898. This route ran from a Downtown terminus at 3rd Street and Stephenson Avenue (present-day Traction Avenue) to 1st Street by way of Boyle Heights by way of Stephenson, Merrick Street, 4th Street, and Fresno Street.

In 1910, the LAIU was taken over by the Pacific Electric Railway who ran it as a local line for one year, extending the route to 4th and Hill by way of 3rd and Hill Streets.

Sunnyside Division (1888-1911)

The Sunnyside Division was the second division to be built by the Los Angeles and Redondo Railway, the world's first suburban railway. From the LA&R terminus at 2nd and Spring Streets, the Sunnyside Line ran to Redondo Beach by way of 2nd Street, Broadway, 7th Street, Grand Avenue, Santa Barbara Avenue, Sunnyside Avenue (present-day South Hoover), a private right of way between 69th Street and Florence Avenue, Vermont Avenue, 166th Street, Redondo Beach Boulevard, Ripley Avenue, and Anita Street.

F (programming language)

F is a module-oriented, compiled and numeric computer programming language. F is designed for scientific programming and scientific computation. F was developed by the Fortran Company and was developed as a modern Fortran thus making it a subset of Fortran 95 and Fortran 90 programming language. It combines both numerical features and data abstraction features from these languages.F is also backwards compatible, thus allowing to make calls to Fortran 77 program. F uses the g95 compiler, which is the same compiler used for Fortran 95. F compilers are readily available on both Windows and various Linux Operating Systems free of charge or can be as part of a bundle from the Fortran Store.

Overview

F is not permissive thus there is only one way to write codes. All key words and function names are reserved words in F therefore names cannot be the same as any keyword. F is equipped with more than one hundred intrinsic procedures built into it therefore does not need to include additional standard libraries or modules. Language keywords and intrinsic function names are reserved keywords in F and no other names may take this exact form.

Viper (hieroglyph)

The Ancient Egyptian Viper hieroglyph is Gardiner sign listed no. I9 for the viper; the viper is shown in full length extension, with undulations of motion.

The viper hieroglyph is used in the Ancient Egyptian language hieroglyphs for the alphabetic consonant letter f. In texts of hieroglyphs it can be found commonly used as the possessive pronoun, namely as, his, hers, or its. The hieroglyphic pronoun follows the noun it modifies.

The viper is the Horned Viper, Cerastes cornutus.
