Hans Engell
Trained as a journalist at Berlingske Tidende 1968-71 (a large Danish
newspaper) and worked as journalist there until 1978. Was minister of
defense 1982-87 and minister of justice 1989-93 for the Conservative
Party. Was elected for parliament 1984. Was chairman of the
Conservative Party in Denmark (and a possible future Prime Minister)
1993-97. Resigned after having crashed his car on the highway. Left
Parliament 2000 and is at present chief editor at Ekstrabladet, a
tabloid-paper with a (well-earned) reputation similar to that of Bild
in Germany and Rupert Murdochs press.
