This is the official website for the Town of Calabash, North Carolina-"The Seafood Capital of the World". Calabash is a coastal community, bordering South Carolina located between Wilmington, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. A Mayor-Council form of government with a Town Administrator who together operate the Town of Calabash. Calabash has a six-member town council, a Mayor and five commissioners each serving a 4-year term in office. The Board of Commissioners meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. at the town hall located at 882 Persimmon Road. You are encouraged to attend.
Calabash was incorporated in 1973. At that time, Calabash was a small fishing village with a handful of seafood restaurants. We have since grown into a small town with a year-round population of 1,868 residents. Currently, there are over 30 restaurants in town serving people from all over the world each year. The Mayor and Board of Commissioners invites you to explore our website and learn everything you would like to know about our beautiful town; from our history, which began as early as 1691, to current events and future plans.
