Rory Conces
Rory J. Conces is Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He conducts research in integrative philosophy as it pertains to democratization and civil society building in post-conflict societies, as well as conflict resolution and the ethics of intervention. Some of his work has also differentiated the hyperintellectual from the hypointellectual. A new research thread of his is in the area of civic design, including the transformation of plural mono-ethnic societies to multi-ethnic societies through the manipulation of evocative objects that are ethnonationally antagonistic. He served as Editor of International Third World Studies Journal and Review from 1994 to 2006. Professor Conces earned his Ph.D. in philosophy at the University of Missouri-Columbia, M.A. in philosophy at DePaul University, and B.A. at Creighton University. He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Sarajevo (2001) and the University of Prishtina (2008), and has previously taught at South China Normal University in Guangzhou and Creighton University.
