The paper is situated at the intersection point among school, culture, diversity and didactics and develops a specific focus on the meaning of the body in the school. The argumentation explores the big challenge of the diversity and proposes reflections on the role of the body in the encounter with the others and as opportunity, fertile of suggestions and applications, for the didactics.

Leading authorities, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), have extensively documented the positive effects of physical activity on health and quality of life. However, it has been equally well documented that inequalities related to access to physical activities are also strongly linked to socioeconomic factors such as income, education, employment and ethnicity. People who are poorer, less educated, unemployed or belonging to specific ethnic groups tend to engage less in physical activity with negative effects for their life. The MOVE project, funded by the European Commission under the Health Programme 2008-2013 «Together for Health», aimed at identifying, qualifying and implementing good practices in cross-cutting community initiatives to promote health-enhancing physical activity for socio-economically disadvantaged groups. Particularly, the MOVE project aimed at c...

According to our interdisciplinary approach and other studies, a merging of interests is encompassed in the Active City perspective; new urban challenges are emerging and need to be tackled in integrated manners from multiple disciplines, the principal being urban planning and design. The world experiences great urbanization trends: population's progressive aging; globalization; migratory flows and other demographic, socio-economic and geo-political transformations (often connected to the concepts of frailty and vulnerability); modified behaviors and more sedentary lifestyles, mechanization and industrialization processes. Such trends are deeply changing not only the social context as well as p...

Schools are considered a fertile environment to observe the personal development of individuals and to promote healthy and pro-social behaviours. Therefore, the quality and the typology of teaching clearly contribute to the wellbeing of the educational community. From this perspective, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is widely recognised as a solid strategy to improve the quality of teaching and learning processes with a specific focus on the promotion of healthy behaviours among students, and a way to provide teachers with ad-hoc competences and skills. CPD is a means to improve school capacity, thus fulfilling educational attainment in view of the additional responsibility linked with the emerging educational needs. The paper reflects on this specific topic by focusing in particular on the Italian context and presenting in details a good practice of...

La società di oggi è chiamata a rispondere a questa emergenza educativa e a mettere in atto interventi e politiche che favoriscano più ampi spazi di autonomia per i bambini.

Method: Following a literature review about topics related to PA, elderly and ICT, our interest focused on investigating the programs put in place by municipalities for active aging through the use of ICT. The first part of the study represents the basis for the development of a prototype: this process will be characterized by the active participation of "senior developers", a convenience group selected according to their ability in using technological devices. Several interview and focus group will be conducted to understand which characteristic and functions a technology should have to support the elderly in terms of movement, social inclusion. Results: The literature review showed that studies based on the development of ICTs aimed to promote movement and social inclusion and overco...

A pioneering, while deeply rooted in the history of the cities, perspective could be provided through the observation of the urban environment by the point of view of the body. This ground-breaking viewpoint should be integrated with the implementation of citizens' participation in planning to ensure the sustainability of the actions; this study focused on the involvement of young people. The relationship between body and town planning evidences a lack of systematic and specific studies, primarily considering those connecting theoretical and empirical aspects. The research had been carried out following two levels of hypotheses. The first, at theoretical level, aimed to demonstrate the connections between the body and the town planning. The second, at empirical level, intended to prove t...

Accepting the idea of the body as an inner environment, it is possible to outline a more sustainable approach to sport didactics that doesnt jeopardise the youth's later willingness for sports. The red thread running through the theoretical references and didactic examples is a way of teaching that privileges communicative to functional/thermo dynamical aspects. The sustainable didactics is the synthesis of several methodological approaches developed in the in the field of Sport for All.
