🌟What does the rise in the unemployment rate mean for us employers? 🙋‍♀️ Official statistics by the ONS suggest between January and March 2024 the unemployment rate in the UK was 4.3%. In the North East this was higher at 4.4%. Following bleak recruitment performace in June, there has been a resurgence of job creation, adverts being posted, and placements being made in July. TL;DR🚀: - The total volume of placements increased by 34%. - Temporary & contract placements increased by 40%. - Permanent placements increased by 11%.  - Revenue per recruiter increased by 49% against a slow June. Further insights📖: - Jobs created increased 15% on the month. - Job adverts increased by 19%, reaching the highest level this year. - Both perm and temp & contract placements were at the highest level this year. I've seen lots of posts about 360 consultants, base salary and expected billings. I think there is a massive misconception, especially with grad consultants or recruiters new to the industry - or those who don't fully understand the cost of running a business as to how their 'target; is made up. It isn't just a figure plucked out of the air, it is based on budgets. Let's take a consultant on a base of 40k. Lets say they bill 100k Salary 40k Commission 20k Add their costs to employ (employers NI, holiday, pension) Lets say 15k Add costs for equipment, CRM, job boards, LinkedIn, Payroll, Training - 4k **These are all obviously guesstimates and I appreciate each business will have their own individual fixed costs. The above equals circa 79k. Then, take into account corp tax a business will need to pay on any profit at 25%.... You can see how billing 100k with a 40k base doesn't really equate as well as it sounds. I am no accountant, but the figures speak for themselves And now you know, why we bang on about budgets.

Travel debit card Currensea has raised over £1.7m from 760 investors in just four hours on crowdfunding platform Seedrs. Currensea initially targeted a raise of £1m at a valuation of £28.5m. The successful campaign comes after the #fintech hit 100k cardholders in March, with its money-saving app now used globally every nine seconds. Currensea says the funds raised will support future customer acquisition and continued development of its co-brand offering. James Lynn, co-founder of Currensea, comments: “Consumer appetite for travel has almost fully recovered from the pandemic and the unprecedented investor demand for Currensea demonstrates the need for a simple solution that eliminates FX fees and maximises the value of our savings." In 2022, Currensea raised over £4.5m through a Seedrs crowdfunding raise as well as VC investment from venture capitalist Blackfinch Ventures and 1818 Venture Capital. Five months into the world of Rec2Rec, the question I get asked most is "Why did you leave tech recruitment and choose Rec2Rec? 🤔” Honestly, I loved my time at BAH Partners. It shaped my view of recruitment heavily, and Fintech recruitment is a fantastic sector to work in. In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements.
